Background | This assignment requires you to draw together your key learnings over the semester and apply them to your role as a manager of people in a post-pandemic work environment.

In Topic 6 we explored the challenges and dimensions of leadership when managing people. Mango (2018) claimed that leadership has six foundational domains (character, characteristics, people practices, institutional practices, context and outcomes). He posited that successful leadership is “context specific by emphasizing different aspects of the six leadership domains” (Mango 2018, p.75; Fig A2, p.87) depending on contextual factors.

A significant contextual factor challenging many leaders and managers is the changing attitudes of employees toward work resulting from their experiences of hybrid work arrangements. Skerlavaj (2020) contends that leaders will need to know how to actively involve, engage, and connect all relevant stakeholders, including employees.

Task | Drawing on Modules 6 -12 inc. write a report as a guide for managers in which you critically support Skerlavaj’s (2020) contention. Your analysis must be framed through a background review of the managerial issues related to a post-covid work situation. Your analysis will draw on a literature review of key learnings from a maximum of three Modules that has increased your knowledge of ways to actively involve, engage, and connect people you are managing. You will also analyse the root cause and effect through the Burke-Litwin Model (BLM) that we have explored in assignment 1 and 2.

The literature review will covers key aspects from 3 modules drawn from broad research – for example – was there particular concepts, models, theories, frameworks, and/or tools that you want to increase your knowledge about managing people through the scholarly and professional literature.

Critically analyse the managerial implications – what are the cause and effect of your organisational insights, analysed through the BLM model; how will managers and the people you are managing benefit from implementing the learnings from the specialist concepts, models and theories e.g., what outcomes could a manager expect to achieve through the application of these learnings?

Your report should apply specialist terminology and demonstrate relevance to, and potential impact on management practices in the specific context of your workplace or aspired workplace. You need to provide examples of contextual factors in your application of your learnings.

Do not simply reproduce the concepts, models and theories. Using the scholarly and professional literature, support your analysis with corporate examples that have benefited from such implementation.

  • Your literature review must be based on the materials presented in three of the modules in this course (concepts, models, theories, frameworks, or tools from Modules 6 -12 inc.).
  • Organisation insights must analyse cause and effect through the BLM
