Valley of the Spirits
High Concept Statement: "Valley of the Spirits"
"Valley of the Spirits" is a spooky, first-person day time adventure game located in a haunted farm, developed with the Unity game engine. It initiates when the players get surprised reading a letter from his father saying that spirits have invaded his farm. Concerned, the player rushes to the farm navigating through the fields in search of assets like candles and charms to offer to the crow screw named Ghoul in a specific time frame to drive away the evil spirits and return the farm to its previous peace before sunset.
Background Story:
Alex receives a frightening letter from a letterbox claiming that his father's land has been possessed by evil spirits. The once-thriving farm is now overgrown and spooky, with a mysterious cast throughout its fields as the sun sets. The only way to rescue the farm is to conduct an ancient ceremony at its center near the crow screw.
To succeed, Alex must gather supernatural items spread over the spooky land and present them to the phantom scarecrow that is invaded by the spirit. As he gathers items, he will come across challenges like insects, overgrown crops and spider webs. As Alex races against the clock to finish the ceremony and expel the spirits before the sun sets, bringing peace to the property and maintaining their family's tradition.
Characters:
1.Alex as player:
Alex, the brave main character, finds that his dad's land has been dominated by demons. Alex searches the haunting farm collecting spiritual materials for a ceremony that would save the property.
2. Ghoul as crow screw:
Ghoul is a phantom scarecrow that stands in the center of the farm. It is the main point of the practices where Alex must arrange gathered artifacts in order to prevent ghosts and regain calm and peace in his dads farm. Its haunted appearance contributes to the game's spooky mood.
Goal:
Make the farm free from spirits.
Environment:
Farm environment at daytime just before sunset to give it a spooky appearance.
Genre:
Spooky Adventure.
Events:
Must have: Countdown timer
Additional: Collecting objects
3D Blender Objects:
Must have: Letterbox
Additional: Crow screw
2D Gimp Texture:
Overgrown paddy field texture
Mechanics:
Timer: Clock ticking until the sun sets. Player needs to observe the timer to complete the tasks in time.
Collectables: Collect candles and charms by coming in contact with them.
Obstacles:
Fallen logs: Jump over the logs to avoid collision.
Insects: Use a certain key to spray away all the insects before it overcast the players path.
Spider web: Use a stick to clear the spider webs from the path or else the player will get stuck and lose time.
Interface:
Main head bar will have:
Timer: Countdown clock showing time to complete ritual before sun sets.
Inventory: Showing the count of collected objects each with its logo.
