Detailed information The Sustainable Development Goals are a universal call to action to protect the planet and improve the lives of people everywhere. While they are very admirable and no doubt needed to preserve the future, they are goals that all stakeholders (governments, civil society, the private sector, and others) areexpectedto contribute towithout any legal binding obligation. A goal describes an end state or outcome in which time is spent planning and committing to different actions in order to achieve the desired future state.

Mission Australia is a national Christian charity that provides a range of community services and contributing to their shared vision of an Australia where everyone has a safe home and can thrive (Mission Australia 2021). One area of focus for the organisation is to reduce poverty and inequality in Australia. This aligns to SDG 1 and SDG 10: No Poverty and Reduced Inequalities

Essay task:

Critically evaluate the challenges Mission Australia faces when developing a plan to tackle the complex wicked problem of poverty and inequality? (minimum of 3 challenges)

To complete this task you will need to conduct a lot of research andhave an understanding of:

1.Mission Australia and their 5 year plan to reduce poverty and inequality. 3.The complex contributing factors of poverty and inequality in Australia. Eg. Wage inequality within households between men and women is a contributing factor to poverty. This issue also relates to the wicked problem of gender equality.

4.The challenges with sustainable development and implementing the SDG framework.

Tips for writing your essay:

1.Every essay requires an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion.

2.You can use headings in the essay if you feel that it will help you.

3.You should explain in your essay what is poverty and inequality, and a wicked problem but do not spend all of your word count focussed on this.

4.You need to provide a critical analysis of the challenges you have identified. This means you will need to do more than just describe or identify a challenge, you will need to look at the challenge from many perspectives including your own.

5.There needs to be a minimum of 3 challenges evaluated in your essay.
