To ensure page limits can be applied consistently and fairly, all assessed work must be submitted in a Word document format (not PDFs) and adhere to the following formatting rules: 1) Page layout is A4 portrait with margins of at least 2.5 cm on all four sides of the text; 2) Use Arial text, 11 point in size; 3) 1.5 line spacing

Assignment guidance

Students are supported by the module leader and experienced PGTAs to complete a PRISMA compliant systematic review on an assigned topic (relevant to either PATH or CDAD).

The systematic review should include the following:

- Results and discussion sections, compliant with PRISMA reporting guidelines, including a narrative synthesis of evidence.

- Table of study characteristics (where relevant and appropriate)

Supplementary guidance

The PRISMA checklist, technical videos, and the marking guidance are all provided to students.

There is a dedicated session in week 5 providing a detailed overview of the assessment requirements, including step-by-step guidance on addressing the PRISMA guidelines.

Assessment criteria and process

The assignment will be marked by a member of the teaching/marking team for this course. The assignment will be assessed against the PRISMA checklist and marked using the Schools categorical marking scheme. Marking will be checked and validated by a check marker following procedures approved by the University and described in the Schools Code of Practice on Assessments (CoPA). Any penalties for late submission, exceeding the page limit, or unfair means will be applied after marking is complete.

The assignment will be assessed against the marking criteria for coursework essays detailed in theStudent SharePointand marked using the departments categorical marking scheme.

Academic misconduct and plagiarism

When you are writing your coursework it is essential that:

  • it has not been copied from work written by someone else;
  • youhave not worked closely with others (this is collusion);
  • you have not submitted large portions of the work previously for another module.

You will submit all coursework to Turnitinand tick a box to confirmyou haventplagiarised. The marker will look at a report generated by Turnitin to check that it hasnt beenplagiarised. If concerns are raised by themarkeryou may be brought in for a meeting to discuss your work.Inthe meeting you may be givena penaltysuch assubmitting a new piece of work for a capped mark.
