This assignment is a mandatory submission, which means that in order to pass this subject of study, you must submit this assignment.
This assessment requires students to make connections to topics they have learnt during the term with what they experience through professional networking, including compulsory attendance at two employability events. Further details regarding the events will posted via an Announcement as soon as they are available.
You will be required to build professional social networks for career development using the professional online platform LinkedIn. You will be required to undertake several ac vi es using LinkedIn that focus on professional networking and career development. This assessment is supported by the learning content within the Curiosity Pod.
This assignment supportsSubject Learning Outcomes 1 and 3.

Participate in at least one relevant LinkedIn group of your choice (they need to be related to your chosen field). You will need to join the group if not already a member, and you need to contribute to a new or existing discussion.

- Would there be other groups more aligned with my future career?
- Was my contribution to the discussion relevant?

Create a post on LinkedIn. Your post should be a short article on the value of business networking for graduate career success. Add suitable hashtags to your post to encourage networking.

Professional networking
Complete the following activity to build your skills in professional networking.
Attend an employability event aligned to your professional career interests. Students may select from the following types of extra-curricular employability events:
- Professional Industry Association events/activities
- Industry events such as trade shows, conferences or networking sessions including chamber of commerce events
- Careers fairs/expos attended by recruiters or industry professionals
- Career advice meeting with an industry professional relevant to your chosen career (to be organised by the student).
- Career advice meeting with a current Employer/Human Resource Manager (non-relative).Only 1 of this type will count for this assessment.
- Other events must be approved by the teaching academic prior to attendance and the key requirement is that industry professionals must be in attendance. Careers workshops such as interviewing skills and resume writing do not qualify for event attendance.

- Record and upload to YouTube your personal elevator pitch (no more that 1 minute duration). Be sure to make your video unlisted on YouTube to preserve privacy.
Also, complete one of the following activities:
- Attend an educational webinar conducted by a professional body, Chamber of Commerce or other organisation related to your chosen field. Include a screenshot, with you in the shot, of the online webinar/video conference.
- Attend an extra-curricular employability event relevant to your chosen field(to be approved by the OLA).Include a photo of yourself at the event.
- Attend a career advice meeting with an industry professional relevant to your chosen field or with a current Employer/Human Resource Manager(senior manager, non-relative; to be approved by theOLA).
Step 4:Brieflyaddress the following points for any event you attended (No more than 80-100 words for an event):
- Event name, date, type of event.
- Descriptionof event experience.
- How did it make you feel?
- What did you learn about? For example, yourself, future career, or working in services.
- Whatconnectionscan you make to the employability and services marketing literature you have encountered so far?
Remember:The experiencesthat you write about from the events that you attended could include making new connections and networks, learning new ideas, fine-tuningyour verbal communication skills, and learning more about yourself and your future career, just to name a few.
Step 5: Writeyour reflection of your learning from the professional networking activitiesusing the following reflection guidelines, with the guidelines set out as separate headings.
It is this Reflection that will be assessed in accordance with the marking criteria for the assessment. The Reflection should be no longer than 1,000 words and refer specifically to the employability activities listed above.You should refer specifically to literature and theories in the weekly employability and services marketing readings outlined in the learning materials.
You will be assessed on your analysis and evaluation, and consideration of alternative explanations using literature/theories from at least three weekly readings. Therefore, you should use academic literature to support your analysis.
