Examples of specified organisations mentioned in questions 2and 3 are : 

chemist, online grocery company, doctors’ practice, car dealership, building products manufacturer, bakery, credit cards provider, third party transport company, sport shoes manufacturer, mobile phone recycling center  

Perhaps it would be better to clarify something about what I mean with “specified”.

When I have written each question of the exam paper I have already selected the specified organisation for you from the list above. You will not choose your own. But the organisations that have been asked in the questions will be definitely one from the list above and you know if it is a manufacturing or service as it has been provided with the questions. 

Q1. There are main dimensions to compare manufacturing and service organizations such as:

• degree of customer contact,
• labour content of the jobs,
• uniformity of input,
• measurement of productivity,
• quality assurance and
• inventory.       

You will be asked to discuss the differences between managing operations for a manufacturing and for a service organisation based on your own selection of three dimensions (The type of manufacturing and service company for this question is not in the list of companies above).                                (10 marks)

 The final exam question will include one manufacturing and one service organisation from the list below:

Q3. Consequences of poor management of a specified operations area such as process selection, capacity, or supply chain for a specified service organisation.? How they can be overcome? Provide explanations and give examples.                                                                                              (10 marks)

So the area can be either process selection, capacity or supply chain (it has been already selected by myself (you cannot select your own). And I have already  chosen  a specified service organisation from the list. You cannot select your own.

Q4. Reflection on one of the case study of your own selection that has been discussed in the tutorials.                                                                   (10 marks)

Q5. Operations strategies are named as:

The question will focus on the impact of the effective/ non effective management of one of the operations function areas on the two operations strategies of your own selection of                                                  (10 marks)

Operations function areas can be one of the below: product and service design, process selection, inventory, quality, capacity.
