Perhaps it would be better to clarify something about what I mean with “specified”.
When I have written each question of the exam paper I have already selected the specified organisation for you from the list above. You will not choose your own. But the organisations that have been asked in the questions will be definitely one from the list above and you know if it is a manufacturing or service as it has been provided with the questions.
Q1. There are main dimensions to compare manufacturing and service organizations such as:
- degree of customer contact,
- labour content of the jobs,
- uniformity of input,
- measurement of productivity,
- quality assurance and
- inventory.
You will be asked to discuss the differences between managing operations for a manufacturing and for a service organisation based on your own selection of three dimensions (The type of manufacturing and service company for this question is not in the list of companies above). (10 marks)
Q2. Capacity measures, three examples (what is the unit of measuring capacity) for a specified manufacturing and for a specified service organisation.
