Assessment 2: Essay Planning and Rehearsal INSTRUCTIONS Sem2 2023
This assessment is designed to assist you in the following:
becoming familiar with Curtin library
learning how to research an essay topic and carry out an effective library searchlearning how to plan an argumentative academic essaylearning how to address a given topic and essay question.
All the above skills will prove to be invaluable in your future Curtin degree.Assessment 2 will also help you learn how to plan and write the essay for your Assessment 3.
Your Task
Search the library for appropriate journal articles on Nomophonia. Look for articles that help you answer the essay prompt question (see the prompt question below, and on Blackboard). Read the abstract of the article to see which side of the argument it supports, and whether it is appropriate for your purposes. (You will also need to read sections of the full article to gain a better idea of the argument). After doing the above, decide which side of the argument you prefer; you can argue either for or against the topic.
Assessment question: you will not write an argumentative essay for this assessment. However, you are learning how to address a particular given essay question, so that you know what to do when you write your final essay. For this assessment, you need to find an article that would help you answer the prompt question:
Argue for or against the idea that being out of contact with ones mobile phone can cause significant problems for an individual.
After looking at a selection of articles, choose one appropriate academic journal article about the essay topic Nomophobia that helps you address the above essay prompt question. In addition, you will use the article from Assessment 1 as your other source. You will use both articles in this assessment. Both articles must contain information to argue either for the above question or against the question, and be used to complete the essay planning template (see further details about the argument on Blackboard).
Do not use newspaper articles or blogs, or any other non-academic type of articleDo not use books or dissertations, as it is not possible for you to read the entire book/dissertation in order to answer the assessment questions.
You must search Curtin Library to find appropriate academic journal articles.
IMPORTANT: Your chosen journal article must be more than 4 pages long.
Complete the questions on the Assessment 2 Template.The assessment uses two articles - your chosen article selected from the Curtin Library, PLUS the article provided from Assessment 1. Read the questions carefully to ensure you use the correct article for the question.
