Assignment 2 Part C Self-Evaluation and Self-Reflection
Individual Task
DUE DATE AND TIME:Sunday, 5th May 2024, by 8:00pm (Melbourne time)
PERCENTAGE OF FINAL GRADE:5%
WORD COUNT:500 words
Description
Assignment 2 Parts A & B required you to work as part of a team on preparing a business report and then you were asked to collectively reflect on your collaborative effort to present and defend financial information. This task (Part C) requires you to evaluate and reflect on your own contribution towards the development and implementation of the project plan for complex financial decision making.
Specific Requirements
This assignment requires the completion and submission of an individual statement of approximately 500 words that evaluates your individual contribution to the team project and reflects on your experience.
You should demonstrate and provide evidence of how you managed yourself in the team project and how you contributed to developing and implementing a project plan for complex financial decision making.
What exactly is self-management?
Self-management is a broad term but encompasses some quite complex skills and understandings that only come with guidance, training, opportunity, and experience. To begin with, consider the following 16 aspects carefully (in no particular order of importance), self-management as the ability to:
process information and use this for knowledge building
adapt to particular environments and situations
review feedback for understanding
use feedback for improvement in a constructive manner
set goals
set priorities
reach milestones in a timely way/submit work on time
select the right tools and working with these accordingly (eg databases etc.)
plan and organise learning
handle stress so that it does not become debilitating
seek out information, assistance and resources
adopt an independent approach to study
collaborate with others whilst being able to flag difficulties and handle difficulties as would
be reasonably expected
reflect on areas of weaknesses and work towards amelioration (think about reflective practice)
attend to daily issues to allow for important activities eg study time etc.
For additional resources to support the development of your self-management skills, please check the Self-management Skills Resources document in the Assessment Folder.
Tasks
The main tasks for an individual within a team project are to collaboratively:
Plan work:
clarifying and establishing individual goals and performance expectations
identifying team values
identifying project milestones, subtasks, and timelines
assigning individual roles
Manage work:
Monitoring individual progress of the assigned tasks and prioritising tasks
Communicating within the team, preventing/dealing with issues
Review work:
Evaluating individual progress and outcomes
Self-reflecting on individual achievements, strengths/weaknesses, future growth, and strategies for self-development
You will be graded on how you managed yourself in the project. Regardless of team project challenges, you need to self-evaluate and self-reflect on your experiences and how you can apply your learnt lessons in future teamwork projects.
To substantiate your self-evaluation and self-reflection, you must keep a record of your team and individual activities: log/diary of your project activities, meetings, division of work and expectations. Your evidence can be presented in your appendices this may include the following:
Team Canvas/team contract
meeting agendas, minutes of meetings and action items.
Project milestones and deadlines
Written communications within the team, eg Email, chat, forums, MS Teams communication and collaboration, MS Planner notes, etc
Peer feedback
SWOT analysis of individual teamwork performance
Other relevant evidence
Please note word count wont be applied to your appendices.
The Individual Reflective template is provided below to give you some structural ideas of how to proceed.
SELF-EVALUATION (200 word; 2 marks)
Complete the following self-evaluation to provide the background information on how you functioned as part of your team. This will prepare you for your Self-Reflection. Developing your ability to self-evaluate is a crucial step to reflective practice.
1. GOALS:
What were your individual goals for the project in terms of developing and implementing the team project plan?
What were the individual performance expectations and how were they to be measured?
What self-management skills did you want to develop or improve as an individual team member?
2.
PLANNING:
What was your team role in this project? Why were given that role?
What were the main task milestones? Were they achieved? What was your contribution?
What tasks were you assigned? Did you complete them all? Why not?
What self-management skills helped you support your team progress with the Tasks?
3. TEAM PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION:
How did you contribute to your team management and performance?
What self-management skills helped you meet and evaluate team and individual expectations?
4.
ISSUES and PREVENTION/RESOLUTION:
How did you manage potential and actual issues within your team? (For example: non-performance in terms of meeting agreed timelines and task milestones, conflict within the team or poor communication)
How did you prevent or resolve any teamwork issues?
SELF-REFLECTION (300 words; 3 marks)
5.
REFLECT on the following:
What individual strengths and weaknesses in relation to self-management have you identified as a result of this project? (Conduct a SWOT analysis of your current teamwork skills)
What have you learnt from this team experience?
How has the teamwork experience impacted on you? In what way and why?
What are you going to do as a result of your experience? (For example: if you identify a deficiency in time management or feedback seeking skills, you need to outline a clear action plan on how you are going to improve those skills)
How will you apply what you have learnt in this teamwork project to future collaborative projects?
Learning Outcomes
This task allows you to demonstrate achievement towards the unit learning outcomes. The ULOs are aligned with specific graduate learning outcomes that is, the skills and knowledge graduates are expected to have upon completion of their studies and this assessment task is an important tool in determining achievement of those outcomes.
If you do not demonstrate achievement of the unit learning outcomes, you will not be successful in this unit.
It is good practice to familiarise yourself with the ULOs and GLOs as they provide guidance on the knowledge, understanding and skills youre expected to demonstrate upon completion of the unit. In this way they can be used to guide your study.
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO) Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLO)
ULO 4: Contribute to developing and implementing a project plan for complex financial decision making. GLO 6: Self-management.

Managing Teamwork
Team-work spirit - Important
Each group member is expected to contribute equally, and the assessment panel reserves the right to have a peer performance review as part of grading of this task, should any group request it, based on group interpretation of individual performance. Each group must submit an integrated report rather than an assignment with disjointed pieces written by different group members. The group as a whole must ensure all the fonts, tables, space between paragraphs and reference list are presented in a consistent manner and the discussion in the report is presented in a logical flow.
The marking rubric for the group written report is provided at the end of this document. Please read it and understand how your assignment will be marked. Should you need further clarification on internal assessments, feel free to post your queries online.
To make your teamwork visible and to effectively manage your teams tasks, communication, milestones, files and progress, you have access to Microsoft Teams. Please use Microsoft Teams Student Support webpage to familiarise yourself with the platform and make the most out of this feature-rich platform designed to support online team collaboration. Additional resources to help you with using MS Teams have been provided in the Unit Assessment folder.
Using MS Teams will also allow you to fully and constructively capture the evidence of how you collaborated with peers to present and defend financial information and decisions. This evidence is crucial in supporting your evaluation and reflection part of this task.
Important:
Please make sure to read Assignment 2 Parts A & B brief and check the rubrics in conjunction with Part C brief and rubric. To generate sufficient quality evidence for Part B, all critical team processes, MS Teams and Planner setup, communication, collaboration, planning, allocation of team roles/responsibilities/tasks, goal setting, file management, etc. must be discussed by all team members, carefully considered and put in place BEFORE your team starts working on these parts. A list of useful resources to help you effectively manage your team project has been provided in the Unit Assignment 2 Folder. Please study the resources thoroughly before starting on the task.
When you create MS teams for your Assignments 2, please ensure:
Appropriate naming conventions: e.g. T1 2024 MPA702 Assignment 2 Group 1
You add your Unit Chair (Simona Scarparo). Please assign her role as owner.
It is good practice to familiarise yourself with the ULOs and GLOs as they provide guidance on the knowledge, understanding and skills you are expected to demonstrate upon completion of the unit. In this way they can be used to guide your study.
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO) Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLO)
ULO 1: Assess the financial standing of an entity by examining relevant financial information and identify how disclosure techniques can support business decisions. GLO 1 Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities: appropriate to the level of study related to a discipline or profession.

Criteria act as a boundary around the task and help identify what assessors are looking for specifically in your submission. The criteria are drawn from the units learning outcomes ensuring they align with appropriate graduate attribute/s.
Identifying the standard you aim to achieve is also a useful strategy for success and to that end, familiarising yourself with the descriptor for that standard is highly recommended.
Students who submit their work by the due date will receive their marks and feedback on CloudDeakin 15 working days after the submission date.
Extensions
Extensions can only be granted for exceptional and/or unavoidable circumstances outside of your control. Requests for extensions must be made by 12 noon on the submission date using the online Extension Request form under the Assessment tab on the unit CloudDeakin site. All requests for extensions should be supported by appropriate evidence (e.g., a medical certificate in the case of ill health).
Applications for extensions after 12 noon on the submission date require University level special consideration and these applications must be must be submitted via StudentConnect in your DeakinSync site.
