Assignment overview

This assignment is a mandatory submission, which means that in order to pass this subject of study, you must submit this assignment.

The aim of this assignment task is to develop a search strategy, research, locate and appraise current, relevant and academic, peer-reviewed research journal articles.

The relevance of this assignment to nursing is demonstrated by the following Registered Nurse Standards for Practice. The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) require all nurses to practice within various codes and frameworks. Standard 1 of the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice outlines the requirement for nurses to use the best available evidence for safe, quality practice (NMBA, 2016). Additionally, Principle 6 of the NMBA Code of Conduct for Nurses requires Nurses recognise the vital role of research to inform quality healthcare and policy development (NMBA, 2018, p.15).

This assignment supports Subject Learning Outcomes 2 and 3.

Assignment details

Read through the following steps and instructions to understand and meet the requirements of this assignment:

Complete each of the following sections in Parts A and B to complete this assignment.

Part A: Literature search

Step 1: Identify the keywords and key terms for the literature search. To complete this section, you must use the prescribed three keywords and an additional two(2) keywords of your choice. There is no limit to the number of keywords or terms that you may use.

You must:

- use these three keywords: older adults, falls, injury

- select an additional two keywords as a minimum to help narrow your search.

Step 2: Undertake a literature search using academic databases to locate and identify at least five peer- reviewed, academic research journal articles. You must use CINAHL Plus with Full Text as one of your databases and select another database of your own choosing.

The sources must meet the following requirements:

- recent (published within the past five years)

- from a peer-reviewed, academic journal

- must be on the topic of your keyword and/or key term search terms.

Step 3: Describe your search strategy step by step using the template provided so that the search can be replicated by another person - include the limiters. Use the Assignment 1 - Short answer template

Prepare an annotated bibliography based on one of the five journal articles you found in your literature search and included in your reference list. Choose the journal article most relevant to you. It must include at least one of your key search terms in the title, keywords, or abstract.

You are required to produce a summarised response that includes the following:
