Childhood obesity (approx. 200 words) Childhood obesity is a major health concern around the world (Weihrauch-Blüher, 2018). In 2016, it was assessed that 41 million children under the age of 5 years were living with obesity. The predominance of overweight and corpulence among children and young people aged 5-19 has risen drastically from 4% in 1975 to over 18% in 2016. In Australia, the weight among children and young people aged 2-17 is 25% which means that 1 in 4 Australian children are either obese (Dutch et al., 2021). The predominance of weight is indeed higher among Indigenous children, with 38% obese.

Underlying causes of childhood obesity were:

• Poor diet
• Environmental factors.
• Lack of physical activity
• Genetic factors.

Child weight can be an important issue with many negative health impacts (Brewis et al., 2018). Together, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to develop healthy habits and discover their full potential. By doing these things, we can help give our children a healthy future
