Instructions: Choose one of the presentation options from below. Then choose from a topic listed or create your own.
Option 1: Presentation to propose a solution to a concern or problem
Topics:
Waste (e.g., electricity, paper, food) in an apartment building, restaurant or workplace
A safety concern in a neighborhood or workplace, such as speeding vehicles on a residential street, unlit areas or trip hazards
A social issue, such as the school drop-out rate, workplace absenteeism or poverty
A medical or health issue, such as diabetes awareness, obesity or alcoholism

Option 2: Presentation to persuade others to support or oppose an initiative
Topics:
An existing or proposed law
A new or proposed workplace, institution or government policy
A proposed development in the community

Option 3: Presentation to inform others about a topic or issue
Topics:
A significant person or a historical event
A country
A political system or political party
How to complete secondary school as an adult (e.g., GED, adult day school, on-line credit courses)

Prepare your presentation by:
Conducting research about the topic
Planning, preparing and practising the presentation
Preparing responses to possible questions from the audience
If needed, preparing visual aids for the presentation, such as handouts, an agenda and presentation slides to help the audience understand your topic
Present for 8 to 10 minutes. During your presentation, be sure to:
Introduce the topic of the presentation
Include information that relates to the topic
Provide sufficient explanation, evidence and examples as needed
Present accurate information and identify your sources
Vary tone and emphasis as required to keep audience engaged
Vary communication approaches to keep audience engaged
Respond to questions and non-verbal cues of audience adequately
Ask questions to confirm understanding
Use visual aids as needed (e.g., presentation software, handouts)
