Step 1: Selecting job advertisements
Find and select three job advertisements fordifferentorganisational learning and development positions. Examples of these types of roles could be:
- Learning and Capability Specialist at Virgin Australia.
- Learning and Development Consultant at MAX Solutions.
- Customer Manager Facilities management at Qantas.
- Organisational Culture and Support Officer at Queensland Law Society.
- National People and Culture Manager at Qantas.
Step 2: Analysing job advertisements
Analyse the jobs you find, theiressential and desirable characteristics, and the industriesthey are located in from the job advertisements.
Step 3: Comparing job advertisements
Compare, contrast and identify similarities and differences in the information you found. To do this effectively, develop a matrix of the information you found.For example, you could set your matrix up as follows:
Step 4: Discussingcharacteristics
Select any three characteristics you consider as essential for an organisational learning development specialist to have based on your matrix. Then discuss these characteristics by applying them specifically to the industry sector you wish to work for, or are currently employed in. This section forms the body of your report. Use a minimum of two academic references for each attribute.
Note:You cannot use the readings given to you as part of the subject learning materials as these two academic references. Although you are free to cite these readings in your report, full marks will be given if you find and use additional academic references.
Step 5: Explaining your choice
Explain your choice of these three essential characteristics and why you consider them to be the most importantcharacteristicsfor an organisational learning development specialist in that industry. This section also forms the body of your report.

Step 6: Structuring your report
Structure your report with clear headings. Include an introduction, subheadings as required by your report, and a concluding paragraph. At the end of your report should be your reference list, with a clear heading. Include as an appendix to your report:
- Appendix Ayour matrix of information comparing the different industry job advertisements.
- Appendix Bafullcopy of your three chosen job advertisements with sources referenced.
