  • Additional sources may be older than 5 years

  • Sources must be peer-reviewed and academic (textbooks should form foundational material, journal articles act as support material, websites should be avoided where possible)

  • Direct quotes are not allowed. All information must be paraphrased (marks cannot be awarded for high similarity)

Assignment presentation guidelines have also been provided to assist you with formatting requirements for your assignment (not all of these requirements will be relevant).

Please refer to the referencing resources below for examples of good and poor referencing sources.

Turnitin

There is no cut-off valuethat your similarity score (generated by the Turnitin Originality Report) must be below. You can check your work by submitting it and then checking the Originality Report. If there are large sections of text that are highlighted as being too similar to the source material, you need to edit your work before your final submission. You can resubmit your work as many times as you need toup until the due date(but keep the file name the same each time). Make sure you submit your first draft early enough for the report to be generated and to make changes if needed.

If you have large parts of text that have been copied from your sources, this amounts to plagiarism and is taken very seriously by the University. There are services provided on campus if you feel you need help paraphrasing your work.
