Please submit your work via Turnitin. Your assignment needs to be submitted by 23.59 hours on the 19/07/2022. The assignment is a 3000-word case-study.
You should choose a scenario this could be a case study discussed in class or something you have read about. Please avoid any area of your personal clinical practice.
Please ensure that you use the checking service within Turnitin to ensure that you have appropriately paraphrased your work and that any areas of direct quotes have been appropriately referenced (see module for video on referencing).
Please be sure to address the assignment brief - the essay should have:
1) First paragraph - An introduction - give an overview of the use of law and ethics in healthcare and support your work with references to the pertinent literature. Give a statement that that confidentiality has been maintained and reference NMC (2015). Remember to keep all names fictitious - don't use any individual's name, give the place where it took place, or any other identifying feature. Within your introduction you should also indicate what you are going to cover in the assessment and which ethical theories/framework you are using.
2) Next paragraph Give a description of the scenario. Just give the facts without identifying any individual involved. There is no need to mention drugs/medication.
3) The following paragraphs - follow on your work from paragraph one and continue to debate/discuss law and ethics to progress your work. Make use of the weekly sessions, the ethical principles, ethical frameworks, etc. that have been discussed in class to debate the scenario. The debate should be from an ethical and legal perspective. Even if your case does not relate to mental health or children directly, you should discuss mental health law and consent in children to demonstrate your understanding you should therefore demonstrate why it would not apply if that is the case.
4) Progress your work logically you can use ethical frameworks to help you progress your work in a focussed manner. Remember, you are NOT the judge or the jury - your role is to keep objective and debatethe case from legal and ethical perspectives.
5) Give a summary - and conclude your work to the key points in your work - give recommendations for practice.
6) Check your grammar and referencing - including your reference list. Use cite them right from the library website to check your referencing. You need to primarily use academic sources (journal articles, textbooks) and not rely on internet sources (websites). The work should show that you understand and can interpret the relevant literature.
