Assessment overview The objective of this assessment is to assess your knowledge and performance as would be required to establish the need for research in a mental health context, gather information and critically analyse the information for relevance to own work.

Instructions for this assessment This is a project-based assessment and will be assessing you on your knowledge and performance of the unit.
Your assessor will provide assessment results and feedback online, or via the feedback form at the end of this document.
Note: if you are submitting through an online platform, the assessor will give you feedback via the Moodle platform.

PREPARING YOUR RESEARCH PROPOSAL Prepare your research proposal using the subheadings provided below.
Assessment Task 1 Questions
1. Research Statement (minimum 150 words)
A research study is always triggered by a question that is in the mind of the researcher/research group what is the purpose of the research? What are the main themes? What use will the information/data be?
Introduction and clear statement of the research that is going to be researched on. Example: This research focuses on mental health sectors factors on sustaining reasons of stigma and misinformation.
The purpose of the research is to find a solution for the purpose.
2. Literature Review on the issues being researched (main body of the assessment, maximum 500 words)
In this section, you need to provide a summary of your key findings on issues related to your topic (above). Use a minimum 5 pieces of literature, incorporating a mix of academic sources. Please ensure that you use the Harvard Referencing Guide.
List 5 articles on the option that I have decided on.
Use Harvard referencing. Use the bibliography straight away.
Minimum of 5 articles, which are mixed of author, HARVARD referencing , clear of understanding which can be summary of each literature done separately or one big summary mix with all 5 articles. DONT worry about word count. Atleast a paragraph with 3-4 sentences.
3. Objectives of the Question you want answered
The objectives are the lines of investigation to address your research statement. In this section you need to think clearly and focus on what you want answered in this research? What do you want to find out about /to identify /to assess?
Objectives are more of a statement.
Objective is done with Time bound or many other objectives.
To reduce/minimise burnout, assess impact of all systems on workers
***2 paragraphs would do, and short and sweet *** could be 1,2 3 or just 2 objectives.

4. Target group for the study
The purpose of describing your target group is to assist you to focus on the group of people you are trying to learn about. If we say worker who is part of that group. We need to be careful that when we describe and discuss the target group we do not stereotype them or use negative terms.
CHOOSE A TARGET GROUP. Type of people we want to learn about, dont use stereotypes words, eg; The target group for the research is volunteers in neighbourhood centres or day programs, or managers and supervisor or former MH workers.
Mention an approximate target group, ( sample group of student for study) , here we are noting down target group. Example, mental health peers of Cumberland area , workers or former workers of MH, former or current corrective workers, or

Who are the various parties that you think may have a stake/interest in this research?

Funding body, eg; nsw health, unions,
Worker comp providers
local charities.
Roles that they play also list the stakeholders like Justice NSW, Headspace, Health NSW etc.
6. Ethical considerations
Identify three (3) ethical issues related to you research and explain very briefly how you plan to address these.

7. Methodology for the research
Once you are clear about your question you need to decide about the method/s you would use to gather information. Please state the reasons why you are selecting a specific method/s and indicate the preferred number of respondents for each eg survey, telephone interviews. Indicate if your method/s are Quantitative or Qualitative.

8. Time Schedule for the project provide a written plan i.e Chart or Timetable, for the three stages of the project i.e Proposal, Plan and Implementation.
9. Implementation Identify factors that may influence the successful implementation of your proposed research.

Demonstrated knowledge of objectives. The learner clearly addressed what questions they wanted answered in the research and outlined objectives that are focused and feasible.
