A students performance on a placement test should indicate the point at which the student will find material neither too easy nor too difficult but appropriately challenging. Teachers benefit from placement decisions because they end up with classes that have students with relatively homogeneous ability levels. In other words, A placement test should effectively classify learners into the proper levels with high reliability and validity (Daugherty et al., 2018). Placement tests go through a design, evaluation, and analysis process. ESL placement tests accurately evaluate reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
