Reflective Writing on Team Assessment Experience

The experience of joining a team that was tasked with the assessment of diversity within an organization was insightful and also provided a great learning opportunity in terms of teamwork. Thus, it enabled me to expand my knowledge about interpersonal interactions, conflict-solving, discussion and the planning of joint activities and confrontation.

Collaborative Communication

There was a lot of focus on the importance of collaboration and how communication should be done. Daily and periodic meetings made sure that everyone was on the same page and best practices were shared (Igbinenikaro, Adekoya & Etukudoh, 2024). I realized the need and value to listen to the task and to express information clearly. Lack of understanding did happen due to misunderstandings with language usage, and in order to avoid such instances, clear understanding should be sought.

Problem- solving

Another highlight was the issue of problem-solving. It has also mitigated for invention yet it had a flip side which involved working with different perceptions of the same matter. First, it led to conflict since we were unable to see this as a matter of common interest. The enhancement of outlined problem-solving frameworks like brainstorming sessions and Five Whys helped to navigate our team through conflicts effectively and unlock the power of imagination.

Discussion and planning

Communication and coordination of ideas were essential in our project and enabled a fluid progress. Initially, we outlined the goals and time frame necessary for our studying process, which can be considered as strategy. Another way of thinking involved making sure each team member got a chance to speak and thus ownership and accountability were stressed (Edmondson & Harvey, 2018). The main thing I understood and appreciated was the need to think a lot about the details and to always stay ready for changes. Another difficulty was how to stick to the proper schedule, since there always are factors that can slow you down; at the same time, flexibility was necessary in order not to escape the schedule.

Conflict and temperament audits

Among all aspects, the ones most difficult were conflict management and temperaments of the team members. Disagreements emerged based on professional disagreements on how to address parts of the report. While temperament profiling was beneficial to determine the working style and choice of each member, everybody carried out a temperament audit (Meluso, Johnson & Bagrow, 2020). By realizing these disparities, it became possible to distribute the assignments which would engage what we cover by each individual on the team and minimize conflict. Setting rules concerning dealing with conflicts for instance, never addressing issues indirectly and a conflict should be approached with respect enhanced constructive conflict resolution at the workplace.

Overall, this team assessment activity was positive in that it provided the members of this team with the opportunity to engage in collaborative communication, problem-solving and planning and conflict management. It dear, noted that continuity in any teamwork is not only about the expertise but also emotional intelligence and flexibility.
