PURPOSE
The purpose of this assessment task is to:
Create a play journal of early childhood experiences reflective of the languages of maths, science, technology and movement. This will comprise of observations and reflections gathered throughout the unit and while on placement.
The unit learning outcomes assessed are:
- LO1: Articulate the value ofplaceand childrens agency in play
- LO2: Elucidate the language of maths, science,technologyandmovementin the context of early childhood and play
- LO3: Evaluate physical activity, health and wellbeing as defined in policy documents, development theories, and curriculum frameworks.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE
For this task you are to create a journal using 6 entries from your Playwork Placement field diary, with reflection on the following topics (200 words each):
- Childrens play and the language of science
- Childrens play and the language of maths
- Childrens play and the language of movement
- Children's play and the language of technology
- How has this unit influenced your thinking about childrens play and learning?
- How might you connect Playwork to ideas in an Australian early learning framework (Belonging, Being, Becoming EYLF/VEYLDF)
You will include a photo, video or written observation from your Playwork Field Diary for each question.
PLEASE NOTE:
All reflections should include a discussion of theory from the unit.
Tasks that do not include theory from the unit or reflect the unit content will receive a zero (0) grade.
