Task 1: Your local market.
Task 2: Your personal direct marketing budget.
Task 3: Your personal promotional activities.

Learning outcome
You will be assessed on the following learning outcome:
Identify a real estate market segment and develop positioning strategies and marketing plans to establish a personal presence in the real estate market.
Task 1 Your local market
Introduction
In this task, you need to do some research so you can:
identify and describe appropriate market segments in the area you will be likely working
show how you will distinguish yourself as a salesperson and offer identifiable benefits to clients within those segments.

Instructions
(a) Briefly describe two different market segments in the area where you will most likely be working.
Use approximately 50 to 75 words for each segment.
(b) Describe a typical target client for each of the two market segments you have identified in (a) above. Use approximately 50 to 75 words for each type of client.
(c) What personal positioning strategy/ies will you use to reach the potential clients in the segments in (a) above? How will you demonstrate the differences between you and other real estate sales people working in the same market segments?
(d) Explain how the clients you are targeting will benefit from the positioning strategy/ies you have referred to in (c) above.
Task 2 Your personal direct marketing budget
Introduction
This task requires considerable planning and co-ordination, but it will help you set up a strategy to launch yourself into the real-world marketplace.
Instructions
Read all instructions carefully before you begin work on this.
Create a personal marketing budget. This should cover activities to create awareness of your services for people in one of the market segments you
chose for Task 1. Your strategies must be consistent with industry and legal requirements.
(a) Complete a personal marketing budget for the first three months. The budget must itemise all actual or realistically estimated costs involved in the activities to reach target clients identified in Task 1
(b) above. It should show the GST-inclusive total. You do not need to budget for your personal time involved in this work.
(b) Explain how you will comply with the following when you carry out the activities in your marketing budget.
(i) Fair Trading Act 1986
(ii) Privacy Act 1993
(iii) Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007
(iv) Real Estate Agents Act 2008 and Real Estate Agents Act (Professional Conduct and Client Care) Rules 2012
(v) Real estate industry best practice.
(c) Explain how the activities in your marketing budget will benefit the agency you work for, as well as you as the salesperson.
Task 3 Your personal promotional activities
Introduction
This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your professional ability to attract and retain real estate clients through personal promotional activities.
You will be able to use the activities you develop here to help launch your real estate career.
