The research topic should be a precise formulation of the focus of the proposed research. The researchtopic,asEzzyexplains,shouldbeclearenoughtospecifyexactlywhatyouwantto research? (p. 54). For the sake of precision and clarity, your research topic should be no more than one sentence in length.

2.

<!--[endif]-->Researchquestion/s

This section should articulate the main focus of the research topic in the form of question(s) (Natalier, 2019). Research questions need to incorporate the key ideas that the research seeks to address as well as the key concepts underpinning the research (Natalier, 2019). Depending on your research topic, you may be required to formulate one research question or a series of research questions.

<!--[endif]-->Methodology

Aresearchmethodologyiscomprisedoftheresearchersstandpoint,theoreticalframework, and research method/s (Walter, 2019). Accordingly, this section of your research design framework should address the following:

Standpoint

In writing your methodology, it is important to take into account your standpoint as a researcher. A standpoint is [t]he way we see the world and our position within it in relation toothersandsociety?(Walter2019).Ourlivedexperiencesandpersonalidentityimpacthow we approach our research.

For example, female researchers will have a different worldview than male researchers and Indigenousresearcherswillhaveadifferentstandpointtonon-Indigenousresearchers(Walter, 2019).

Theoreticalframework

The second element of a methodology is an overview of the theoretical framework that the research will be utilising. A theoretical framework is a theoretical map? that determines how you will conceptualise, analyse and interpret the data to answer your research questions (Walter, 2019).

Forexample,youmightchoosetoconceptualiseyourresearchthroughafunctionalist, interpretivist, feminist, postmodernist, or Marxist lens.

Thisneedsonlybebriefdiscussionofyourframework(approx2paragraphs)-youwill provide a more comprehensive discussion of the literature in your final proposal in Assessment 3 which will include a rational for why that is the framework you chose

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->

<!--[endif]-->Inassessmentthreeyouwilldiscussinmoredepth,andwithreferencetothe literature, why this is an appropriate frameworkto explain what you are researching.

Method/s

Your methodology needs to discuss the proposed method/s that will be utilised for your research.Researchmethods,asWalter(2013)explains,refertotechnique[s]forgathering information, such as an interview, questionnaire, or documentary analysis?.

Research methods can be either quantitative (statistical) or qualitative (interpretative). For research focused on what?? and how many?? questions, a quantitative methodwillbeofmostuse(Ezzy,2019).Researchquestionsthatarecentredonquestions ofmeaningwillbenefitfromaqualitativemethod(Ezzy,2019).Youmightfindthatamixed method approach might be beneficial if your research consists of a combination of these kinds of questions.

  • <!-- [if !supportLists]-->You DO need a brief outline of why this is the method you have chosen . A fuller discussionofthis(includingdefinitions,bestpracticeapplications,justificationfor your choice ) is for Assessment 3.

  • <!-- [if !supportLists]-->Youalsoneedtoincludereferencesthatsupportyourchoiceofmethodology across the 3 components.

  • <!-- [if !supportLists]-->Adiscussionaboutthesereferencesandwhytheysupportyourtopicwillbe necessary for Assessment 3

FURTHERINSTRUCTIONS

Theapplicationoftheseconceptsinyourdiscussionshoulddemonstratethatyou understand what the concepts mean.

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->

6.

<!--[endif]-->EthicalConsiderations

In this section, you will be required to outline the ethical implications of your research and outlinehowyouintendondealingwiththem.Forexample,ifyouareconductinginterviews with vulnerable people, you will need to consider the potential for psychological harm and how you could address this as a researcher. You will address this in more detail in your assessment 3.
