Following your report and lunchtime CPD session your company have decided to enter the BIM environment and have started to invest in new resources. Although your colleagues are keen to throw themselves into the new protocols and systems they have flagged up some concerns on specific roles and the integration of old and new rules and regulations into the BIM environment. You have been asked to produce a report outlining methodologies and procedures that the company can adopt to facilitate the successful integration of BIM. Following the success of your CPD session and the use of a case study, you have decided to adopt this approach again. The company are currently tendering for a new 3-storey 500 bed hotel with spa and leisure facilities attached. Your directors feel this would be a good project to base your guide on. |

Produce a report for fellow professionals that considers the following: Roles, responsibilities and resources requirements through the whole life cycle of a BIM enabled project The impact of specific BIM related rules, regulations and standards on projects The impact of existing rules, regulations and standards on projects Your report should be appropriate for fellow construction professionals and considers the impact of the various rules and regulations on the BIM environment. You should research extensively and provide a detailed reference section for your fellow professionals to use if needed for additional research. |

To achieve this task, you will have produced a well-researched and professionally written report with comprehensive bibliography. You should outline the roles and responsibilities of all those involved throughout the life cycle of a BIM enabled project. You must focus your discussion on the proposed hotel project and use this to explain the roles and responsibilities specifically in relation to the BIM environment. You should consider all roles thoroughly and relate them back to the BIM process and documentation. In addition to this you need to consider how the new processes and protocols have impacted on the design, build and use phases and how existing rules, regulations and standards impact on the new BIM processes. You can undertake a comparative analysis of the old v new methods and evaluate the changes and the impacts they would have on a project like the hotel. |
