- Subject Code :
NUR312
Assessment Title: A digital story of therapeutic communication in practice. |
Assessment Type: A digital story |
This is asummative assessment |
Assessment Requirements This assessment will be adigital story about your communication with a service user(or their family member/ carer). To preserve confidentiality, change names/ identifiable details. You need totell the story (briefly) of who they are as a person, their history, current situationand how youengaged and communicatedwith that person. This should be in the form of a story, so how did your therapeutic relationship develop and how did you communication impact (and was impacted) by this? Dont just focus on a single episode of communication. This should bebacked up by theoryand properlyreferenced. The reference list can be submitted as a separate word document. Part of the digital story will also involve youreflecting on your feelings about the situation, what you have learnt, and what you would/ wouldnt do again. Reflection must include feelings (how did you feel in this situation) and thinking in depth about your actions. This reflection can be threaded throughout the story as you reflect and try a different communication approach, or you can reflect at the end. You can construct the digital story using the 1st person, so telling the story from the view of the service user/ family member or you can go between the 1st person and 3rd person. Either is fine for this assignment. A digital story is ashort piece of multimediathat incorporatessound (voice, music etc..),video, pictures, animationand textto tell a story about a subject. Its not just a narrated powerpoint, it should be a story so we don't just want slides full of text. It should be5-6minuteslong and must play by pressing play (rather than me clicking between different slides as it's a digital story). I will stop watching at 6 minutes to keep within the time limit. You can make this using different tools e.g. Renderforest, Powerpoint, Powtoon, Moovly, iMovie, Movie Maker or another animation software. It is really important that you submit the formative (1 minute of your digital story), assignment to check I can open the software you are using and that you are following the assessment guidelines. You need to include areference list, constructed using the correct referencing guide (APA 7th), as explained inCite Them RightLinks to an external site.. The reference list should be a separate word document. |

Here is the feedback I got from tutor from tutor from the 1 minute video so correct this first using the feedback and finish the video.
Good start and well animated & narrated. Please check your citations as Stickley wrote about SURETY, Egan was SOLER. Also don't use the Journal name as the name, who wrote the article in the British Journal of Nursing? Ernstmeyer date was missing. Also explain a bit more about how you developed a therapeutic relationship e.g. Rogers being non-judgemental, genuine etc.. and include what and how you said this. Hopefully in the summative you will go on to discuss a bit more about her as a person and how you communicated with her e.g. what did you say, how did she respond etc.. more about body language and reflection. Also make sure you say her name is a pseudonym.
Please go to Cite them Right to learn how to do your referencing as there are a few errors.
This is a brief idea on what my digital story is about
This digital story follows thelife journey of an elderly womanwho faced many hardships but persevered through resilience and determination. From struggling withundiagnosed dyslexiain school to being forced into work at a young age by her strict mother, she learned to push through difficulties. Her time at aprinting shopsparked a lifelong love for reading, despite her initial struggles.
As she reflects on her past, she sharesfond memories of her mother, realizing in hindsight that her mothers strictness came from a place of love. She also speaks about theloss of her father in WWII, a loss she never fully processed since she was just a baby. Her personal life was marked by both love and losshaving beenmarried twice, she endured the early death of her first husband and later the passing of her second due to old age.
Throughtherapeutic conversation, she opens up abouthow these experiences shaped herand how she continues to push forward, even asher eyesight deteriorates. Her story is a testament to thepower of resilienceand the importance of looking back withunderstanding and appreciation.
This digital story will usenarration, visuals, and reflective moments to explore how meaningful conversations can help someone process their past and find strength in their journey.
