Look at the datasets for the assignment

The datasets for assignment questions 1 to 3 excel file has 3 tabs, each tab has a dataset The dynamic datasets for assignment questions 4 to 6 excel file has 3 tabs, each tab has a dataset

Make sure you use Excel 365 or the App in Microsoft from Outlook.com to open this dataset

Cover page for the word file you must ensure you submit the correct file and check you have submitted the correct file. Email matthew.maccallum@koi.edu.au immediately if you accidentally submit something that has someone elses work.

The excel file does not need a cover page

Title: Semester 2, 2022 BUS105 computing assignmentName:Student number:Sample Number: I am using the sample that is allocated to me based on my student number

Instructions for the computing assignment word file worth 18% of your final grade

Also instructions for the computing assignment excel file worth 2% of your final grade

Overview

Materials that must be used in the assignment - these are provided on moodle

An excel file with the datasets for all the students , each student must follow the instructions and get 3 datasets using their student number , each student will have different datasets

Another excel file that will dynamically generate datasets, student will have to enter their students number to get a unique dataset

3 types of dataset summarizer, an excel file that automatically summarizes a dataset with 2 quantitative variables an excel file that automatically summarizes a dataset with 2 categorical variablesan excel file that automatically summarizes a dataset with 1 categorical and 1 quantitative variables

The following material briefly discusses where to find the material for the assignment

Submission

Students must submit a word file (worth 18%) to Moodle AND an excel file (worth 2%) to moodle

The word file needs to be submitted to the Turnitin link instructions are given on page 6

The word file needs a cover page

The word file needs the answers to 6 questions given in full detail later in this document a vital part of answering the question is using the dataset and the dataset summarizer.

The excel file needs to be submitted to the assignment dropbox,

Students should only submit the excel file with the datasets for questions 4 to 6 AFTER they have submitted added summaries NOT made by the automatic dataset summarizer - summarize the dataset using PivotTables and the scatterplot. (Instructions for submitting the excel file are given on page 8)

The Computing assignment also consists of 5 preparation quizzes worth 1% each these preparation quizzes are on moodle.

Instructions for Major part of assignment, the word file worth 18% of your final grade you submit to Turnitin.

Overview

You need to submit a word file with the answers to 6 questions (see page 6 onwards) you need to use the excel file Datasets for questions 1 to 3 to get the datasets for questions 1 to 3

you need to use the excel file Dynamic Datasets for questions 4 to 6 to get the datasets for questions 4 to 6 , you will need to use Excel 365 for this excel file to work refer to the Office 365 tab on the webpage https://koi.edu.au/faq_category/faq-it-support/or you can use the excel 365 app in an outlook.com email account, these are available for free.

Dataset 1Suppose an airline has calculated the average costs per passenger on each flight both before and after covid

The first variable is Before or after covidThe second variable is

costs per passenger

Dataset 2

Suppose an airline records the cost per passenger and number of false negative covid results for each flight

The first variable is number of incorrect testsThe second variable is costs per passenger

Dataset 3

Is a comparison of two version of a covid test

The first variable is

which version , version A or version BThe second variable is Test result correct or incorrect

Question 1

Dataset 1 into an appropriate dataset summarizer refer to the following dataset https://youtu.be/W0uQc0Ja0p0Paste in the computer output that measures evidence for the claim there is a relationship between the variables before or after covid and cost per passenger if you consider the whole population

Calculate the t test stat for sample mean, the formula is t test stat = x-0s/sqrt(n)With x=the average cost per passenger after covid

s=the standard deviation of the cost per passenger after covid

n=sample size (after covid)

0=sample average before covid (clearly you dont have the population average it is just an estimate)

Use wolframalpha.com to find probability t distribution df n-1> t test stat using the answers in part (b) for example if find the test stat is 1.5 and the sample size is 50 enter

Probability t distribution df 49 > 1.5 into wolfram alpha

Comment on the confidence interval for 1- 2

Comment on the Pvalue for testing the claim 1- 2=0

Question 2

Paste dataset 2 into an appropriate dataset summarizer refer to the following video https://youtu.be/i1lENh2asDEPaste in inferential statistics that measure evidence for the claim there is a relationship between the variables number of false positives? and costs per passenger? if you consider the whole population

Also paste in the scatterplot

Comment on the confidence interval for the slope

Comment on the Pvalue testing the claim the slope is different to 0

Question 3

Paste dataset 3 into an appropriate dataset summarizer refer to the following video https://youtu.be/t_lbrx0xZdkPaste in computer output that measure evidence for the claim there is a relationship between the variables which version? and correct or incorrect? if you consider the whole population

Hint: inferential statistics measure evidence for a claim.

Calculate the z test stat for sample proportion , the formula is = p-p0p0(1-p0)nWith p=sample proportion correct for version B

p0=sample proportion correct for version A (clearly you dont have the population proportion it is just an estimate)

n= sample size for version B

Use wolframalpha.com to find probability Z distribution> z test stat using the answers in part (b) for example if find the test stat is -0.5 enter

probability Z distribution > -0.5

Into wolfram alpha

Comment on the confidence interval for p1- p2

Comment on the Pvalue for testing the claim p1- p2=0

Question 4

Use the dynamic dataset with one categorical variable and one quantitative variable Make sure you enter your student number in the appropriate cellrefer to the following video

https://youtu.be/zbxQrBOCmpwa) Paste in a summary that lets you see the relationship between the variables when there are 10 rows

b) Paste in a summary that lets you see the relationship between the variables when there are 10 rows (use F9 to make sure the summary in part (b) is different to the summary in part (a)

c) Paste in a summary that lets you see the relationship between the variables when there are 1000 rows

d) Paste in a summary that lets you see the relationship between the variables when there are 1000 rows (use F9 to make sure the summary in part (d) is different to part (c)

e) Discuss parts (a) , (b) , (c) and (d) , discuss what are the variables and what is the relationship variables in the sample and the population, give a discussion that could be understood by someone who has not do a statistics course before, you should mention large datasets from the same population give similar answers

Question 5

Using the dynamic dataset with two quantitative variables Make sure you enter your student number in the appropriate cell

You need to paste in scatterplots it is important that you paste the scatterplots into paint first before pasting into word to prevent automatic updates

Refer to the video

https://youtu.be/0ln-P6cAeHUa) Paste in the descriptive statistics and scatterplot that lets you see the relationship between the variables when there are 10 rows

b) Paste in the descriptive statistics and scatterplot lets you see the relationship between the variables when there are 10 rows (use F9 to make sure the summary in part (b) is different to part (a)

c) Paste in the descriptive statistics and scatterplot that lets you see the relationship between the variables when there are 1000 rows

d) Paste in the descriptive statistics and scatterplot that lets you see the relationship between the variables when there are 1000 rows (use F9 to make sure the summary in part (d) is different to part (c)

e) Discuss parts (a) , (b) , (c) and (d) , discuss what are the variables and what is the relationship variables in the sample and the population, e) Discuss parts (a) , (b) , (c) and (d) , discuss what are the variables and what is the relationship variables in the sample and the population, give a discussion that could be understood by someone who has not do a statistics course before, you should mention large datasets from the same population give similar answers

Question 6
