Guidelines
Step 1: Read the assignment brief carefully. Go through the marking criteria so you understand what you are being assessed for. If you have any questions about the marking criteria, ask your lecturer.
Step 2: Create the structure of your assignment. Sample structure:
- Introduction 200 words
- Historical Account 750-850 words
- Theoretical Account 750-850 words
- Integration 500 words
- Conclusion 150-200 words.
Reminder: Total word count is 2400.
Step 3: Writing theReflective Report
Following is a breakdown of how to write the reflective report:
Introduction:
- What is working in partnership in health and social care?
- What is the importance of working in partnership?
- Introduce your report.
Historical Account
- Look at a case from any time in history. An example can be found in your lecture slides, of a person who was kept in an asylum, and his heart was displayed in a museum following his death. Another example of a case is Victoria Climbie. Feel free to choose any other case which has a component of partnership working in it. Be mindful that the case you choose is related to the HSC sector.
- Explain that case (historical account) and reflect on how it would be different in todays world. As an example, would working in partnership allow a deceased individuals heart to be displayed? Add your thoughts about this. Read the lecture slides and you will find a lot of useful information that can contribute to this part of your assignment.
- Explain how working in partnership has evolved over the years. This has been adequately discussed in class. Use lecture notes.
Theoretical Account
- Talk about partnership working theories. Theories are mentioned in lecture slides from weeks 4-5 onwards. Choose a theory and reflect on it. Talk about how this theory helped you in HSC. Discuss how this theory is or is not being implemented in the HSC sector. Elaborate on your views on the theory. Reflect on the discussion you had in class.
- Talk about different/alternate views of the theory and ethical aspects of these theories.
Integration:
Discuss how working in partnership has contributed to improvement in the provision of health care services. Mention, how studying its history of it has helped you realize why working in partnership is essential. Integrate the historical aspect chosen, and the theory you have chosen, and discuss how this contributes to a higher level of competence in ethical decision-making for you as a health and social care professional.
Conclusion:
Conclude your report by writing a summary of it, and discussing the future of working in partnership, and how it still has to be implemented in different sectors of social care, through training professionals, and spreading awareness.
