Task Description:

For this task you need to write a 2000-word structured essay. In your essay you need to critically evaluate research findings about a specific topic area and make recommendations for practical application to clinical practice, research and/or education in the emergency setting.

Choose a topic from the course content relevant to common presentations in your Emergency Department (ED) that is different to the topic you chose for assignment 1 (e.g. gastrointestinal emergencies, such as bowel obstruction; mental health presentations such, as self-harm: neurological emergencies, such as stroke; cardiac emergencies, such as AMI; etc...). You do not need to confirm this choice with your course convenor unless you need furtherclarification of your topic.

    • Assessment and diagnostics in the ED - Relevant ED-focused assessment, diagnostic investigations and management.

  4. In your paper you should evaluate the strengths and weaknesses and provide a critical perspective of the literature. This means you may identify a gap in the literature, and it is essential that in your paper you clearly identify your own perspective on the literature and not just summarise others' opinions (ie., this is interpretation andanalysis).,/li>
