A position statement states the position taken by an induvial or organisation on a given situation. In this instance, we are asking you to articulate your current position on who has more responsibility for the health outcomes of Australians, compared to your original position at the beginning of semester. We are also asking you to imagine how this position might inform the way you work in the future.

This assessment aims to evaluate two learning outcomes for this topic (TLOs):

TLO2 Analyse the structure and function of the Australian health and social care system and its impact on professional practice and health outcomes; and

TLO 5 Explain the relationship between health and social care policy and health outcomes in Australia.

Scope:This verbal assessment task requires the production of a 6- to 8-minute video where youdescribe your current positionon who or whathasmore responsibility for the health outcomes of Australians andreflect on your positionnowcompared to your position at the beginning of semester as stated in yourMy Position Statement 1.

Oral communication is the ability to convey ideas and information through speech. Increasingly, health professionals are required to interpret and communicate the relevance of information to a non-specialist audience, without oversimplifying the meaning. Oral presentation skills are expected in the workplace with technology that is readily available. By completing this assignment task, you are demonstrating that you can speak publicly, in a formal context, and articulate ideas clearly and logically.

As this assignment is an oral presentation, there is atimelimit of 6 to 8 minutes, which might equate to around 1000 words in a script.We DO NOT want you to read a script. Instead, we want you to explain your position as if you were having a conversation with a teacher or grandparent where the script is just there to keep you on track.
