Applied Practical Product:
Applied Practical Product:
My role during this internship includes literature review project investigating the role of fever in identifying bloodstream infections in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
The CEPH competencies demonstrated:
Thorough review of various research articles regarding fever to understand the proper evaluation of fever.
Interpret the results
My project involves:
conducting a thorough literature search in databases such as PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar on fever and bloodstream infections in intensive care unit patients.
Analysing and summarizing research on fever's diagnostic usefulness in detecting bloodstream infections in patients in intensive care units.
Evaluating epidemiology studies' methods, findings, and conclusions.
Assessing the evidence base's quality, strengths, and weaknesses.
A summary of the research on the validity of fever as a bloodstream infection marker in patients in severe condition.
Mendeley citation is used for the referencing of the research articles.
Mendeley is a free academic social network and reference management that facilitates online collaboration, research discovery, and organization. It has versions for managing, sharing, and discovering research papers and data on the desktop and the web. Citation and bibliography generation, cloud syncing across devices, groups and collaboration, paper and citation recommendations are only a few of the important aspects.
Utilizing CEPH Proficiencies:
For this study, data from epidemiologic studies on the correlation between fever and bloodstream infections had to be analysed and interpreted. It also required a critical assessment of the evidence base's advantages and disadvantages.
Worth to the Organization:
The latest research on the diagnostic value of fever for identifying bloodstream infections in intensive care unit patients is summarized in this review of the literature. In addition to highlighting the gaps in our current understanding to assist set objectives for future research, it offers insights to support clinical practice.
Statement of the Preceptor:
A thorough examination and assessment of the scientific literature is essential to comprehending the body of data and determining what needs more research on issues affecting public health policy and practice.
