As an up-and-coming data analyst, you have been employed by one of five organisations to engage with a raw data set, clean it, manipulate it, and provide your employer with a descriptive summary of one component of that data. The organisation you choose to work for is entirely up to you, so take your time in selecting one of the following five options: Airbnb, Australia Airlines, Nike, NBA, and FantasticFilms. Enclosed within each data set will be a memo from your chosen organisation, outlining their goals for the project you're undertaking. You will find your organisation's data set attached to these Assignment 2 guidelines in myMurdoch Learning via the Unit Overview tab.
Once you have chosen your data set, you will need to complete the following tasks:
Task 1:Duplicate your data set in Microsoft Excel and clean the data in preparation for analysis. The purpose of duplicating the data set is so that when you submit your finished product, you will have two sets sitting side by side: one 'dirty' and one 'clean'.Task 2:In a Microsoft Word document, provide a dot-point summary of the data-cleaning strategies you employed in Task 1. This summary should be presented in Times New Roman font, size 11. It should be titled 'Exploratory Analysis' and contain a header and/or footer with information of your choosing.Task 3:Once your data set is clean, create one Pivot Table that tells a visually descriptive story for your organisation and provide a 200-word summary of the story this data conveys. You may need to take your time sifting through the data here to ascertain what sort of insights could potentially be uncovered. This 200-word summary should be presented with the same formatting conventions as you employed for Task 2 (above)What to submitSubmit the following for grading: (1) a Microsoft Excel document containing both your 'dirty' and 'clean' data set; and (2) a single Word document containing a dot point summary of the data-cleaning strategies you employed, your one Pivot Table, and a 200-word summary describing why this pivot table might be important for your organisation.
After you have read this information, head over to the A2 Q & A discussion board to ask any questions, and see what your peers are saying about this assignment. This assessment provides you with the opportunity to showcase your data analysis skills, and specifically, your capacity to clean a raw data set, manipulate data, and construct pivot tables that offer insight for stakeholders. In completing this case study analysis, you will be developing and demonstrating your ability to meet unit learning outcomes 1, 3, and 4.
