ASSESSMENT 2 CASE STUDY 1

Introduction:

You must providean introduction to the case and essayproviding a brief overview of the selected case. Consider how to write introduction, starting general then becoming specific. The purpose of the introduction is to give your reader a clear idea of what your essay will cover. It should provide some background information on the specific case, and should clearly outline your position.

Mind map:

Consider this a visual of the information to follow in your assessment. With your client at the centre summarise all the key points and decisions for your client. Include personal information including medical, governance, ethical considerations and decisions made. Please note; mind map not included in word count.

Governance:

The Government Referral Body that governs case management of specific populations (e.g.DVA, TAC, Workcover).In this section, you must identify the Governing body, what the client is entitled to, the potential options available to your client and your requirements as an AEP working within the Governing body.

Cultural:

Identify the Cultural considerations for your client and discuss why these are considerations and how they may create barriers AND facilitators for patient management.For some cases, you will need to research potential considerations as they may not be that obvious. It is important here to understand the "why". If the case study says they hold X belief, explain to the reader why the client would hold that belief and use research to support.

Ethics:

As AEP's we need to uphold the professional code of conduct. Identify components of the code that link to your case and why you need to ensure you uphold that component in relation to your case. Minimum 3 concrete examples to be provided.

Decision-making:

Now that you have unpacked the client and have a greater understanding of them as a whole; what are you going to do? Link to further referral and why, AEP assessment and treatment plan, behavioral strategies and how you will implement any considerations identified in the previous sections: for example my client has identified a preference for a Male practitioner, as I am female I will XYZ. You may consider integrating this section into in section above. For example if you identify a consideration in ethics - state what your decision is clearly.

Conclusion/Evaluation of patient outcome:

Students need to include a statement summarising how Best practice is achieved / upheld considering points governance, culture & ethics, and link it to patient outcome.Think of this as a conclusion piecing all your components together. Like earlier with the introduction, consider the correct essay style of writing a conclusion.

Referencing:APA 7th edition only:

This is not an opinion piece, you need to support your decision making throughout and justify why clients may hold certain beliefs etc with references. Failure to include references will be considered a breach of academic integrity.
