Collecting, recording, evaluating and representing
Interpreting, analysing and concluding
Communicating
Reflecting and responding
This may be carried out by following the suggested steps below:
Brainstorm what you have observed in the unit and identify possible regions and issues you may be interested in investigating. (See issues table below for some possible ideas). In choosing your issue, be specific and make sure it is a relevant issue for the region you have chosen. Conduct some initial research to make sure you are going to be able to find sufficient resources to help you.
Pose inquiry questions that will help shape your research. What do you need to find out? How? What will you do with your research?
Carry out research by collecting, recording, evaluating and representing relevant information from a range of sources. Make sure you use academic literature and ensure you keep a record of all your references.
Analyse your research to draw out the key information that will help you complete your task. Draw conclusions about the information you have found out and also about what information you are going to include and how. Reflect upon your findings to put forward possible solutions that may alleviate the issue and help the region become more sustainable in the future.

At university, students are expected to demonstrate their own understanding and thinking using the ideas provided by others to support and inform their work, always making due acknowledgement to the source. While we encourage peer learning, it is not appropriate to share assignments with other students unless your assessment piece has been stated as being a group assignment. If you do share your assignment with another student, and they copy part of or all of your assignment for their submission, this is considered collusion and you may also be reported for academic misconduct. If you are unsure and need further information you can find this at http://www.mopp.qut.edu.au/C/C_05_03.jsp#C_05_03.03.mdoc.
