Scenario

In a recent policy review under-taken in preparation for a compliance check of your education setting, it has been noted that you do not have an up-to-date Digital Professionalism and Communication Policy. One of the teachers also regularly talks about the workplace on social media and the Director has concerns about confidentiality and any legal breaches that may be occurring.

Your team has been given the task of writing a specific policy to guide the conduct in a way that meets professional ethical, legislative and regulatory standards.

Your policy development project will:

follow the specific step-by-step instructions from the unit learning materialsfrom Weeks 6 onwards

adhere to both team and individual sections of the task in teams of two to three people

any resources referred to in your policy review must be included in a reference list, appropriately formatted in APA style. Note that this will not be included in the final word count.

support your response with relevant unit readings including the compulsory text and adhere to APA referencing style.

Preparing your policy development project

Careful review of the learning resources provided and active participation in the weekly discussions will ensure you are well prepared for this assignment. The learning materials from Weeks 15 provide much of the general information to assist your understanding of the role of the leader in promoting the appropriate standard of practice within your organisation. Weeks 6 onwards focus deeper into the role of partnerships, legislation, planning for policies and factors affecting the planning.

Step 1: Team research (approximately 600 words)

Research and identify the ethical, legislative and regulatory requirements that inform the content and practice of the policy topic.Week 6: The Australian contextdiscusses how the socio-political context influences policy development. The materials inWeek 7: Leading for qualitydiscuss the legislation and regulations underpinning quality practice and systems within early childhood education. Step 2: Team strategic plan (approximately 600 words)

Develop a strategic plan for the process of policy development. The materials inWeek 9: Strategic planningcover project management. The materials inWeek 10: Professional relationshipsoutline the process of collaboration in partnership with stakeholders. Make sure your strategic plan outlines why collaboration with all stakeholders is important using the following strategic plan/collaborative process:

Articulate your vision (goal)what are you hoping to achieve?

Identify your stakeholderswho will be involved and how can you integrate ethical considerations?

Gather informationwhat processes will you use? What documents will provide data?

Step 3: Individual policy (approximately 600 words)

Develop a draft of your policy,individually, including the policy statement, rationale, procedure, scope, legislative/regulatory constructs, sources and authorisation/review information.

The rationale must include references and/or quotes that align with the policy content and its importance.

Your policy must include a minimum of 10 specific strategies within the procedural guidelines.

The policy must be clearly written for all community stakeholders.
