OBJECTIVES
This assessment item relates to course learning outcome 2 with associated implications for
learning outcome 1. In-text referencing (acknowledgment of your sources of information) is compulsory for assignments using CQU Harvard.
This assessment item must be submitted as a PROFFESIONAL REPORT WORD DOCUMENT ONLY.
LATE SUBMISSION PENALTIES
Consistent application of this procedure across all Built Environment courses requires that
lecturers apply a 5% penalty per day (or part of a day) for any assessment submitted after
the stated submission date.
Question 1 (15%)
Why would a building owner consider having a building inspection conducted on a
recently acquired asset?Discuss the potential benefits to the future management of the building and the lifecycle aspects.
Question 2 (10%)
It is important to realise that each type of building (warehouse vs hospital etc.) have individual needs and demands upon them, and so the performance and life expectancy of plant, equipment, building fabric and fit-out will vary.
Discuss the types of issues that are unique for three (3) different buildings that need to be considered before commencing the inspection process.
Question 3 (10%)
Why should building owners who have large portfolios of older building stock be concerned
about building pathology?
Provide five examples or case studies to support your answer.
