Scenario
You arepartofamediumsizedcompanythatisbasedinMelbourne.Thecompany undertakesworkthatitwinsby responding topublicly listedrequestsfortender.Yourcompanyalsohasastrongreputation fordeliveringhighqualityprojects.TheCEOwhostartedthecompany20yearsago,believesitisthecompany'skeysourceofbusinessadvantage.Qualityisthereforeatthecentreofmostprojectplanningprocessesratherthanmerelybeing anafterthought.
Anewrequestfortender(RFT)hasjustbeenpostedonline[yourselectedprojecttopic]andyourCEOhasdecidedtodeveloparesponse.Asmallprojectteamhasbeen assembledtodeveloparesponsetotheRFT.
Withintheprojectteam,yourgrouphas beenchargedwith theresponsibility of developingaqualityplanforthetender.Inordertoundertakethistask youarealsogoingtohavetospendsometimedevelopingasetofprojectassumptionsaroundwhich yourplanwillrevolve.
Your task
Yourgroup'staskistodevelopaplan thatwillensurethattheprojectdeliver's ahighquality outcome.Thisqualityplanwillbesubmittedwith therestofthetenderdocuments(whichyoudon'thavetoworryabout,becauseanother teamisworkingonthese).
Developing project assumptions
A challengeoftheexercisewillbetodevelopasetofassumptionsabouthowyourcompanywilldelivertheproposedproject.Althoughessentialtoyourplan,these assumptionsshouldnotbecomeyoursolefocus.Theprojectteamneedsyoutofocusonsubstantiveactionsthatwillensureahigh qualityoutcome.
It is expected that your assumptions regarding how the project will be delivered will absorb no more than 2 pages of your report. A template for developing assumptions is provided (below).
