Overview
This is the information and submission area for your group video presentation. Submit the individual reflection on the page:Assessment 3: Community development strategy - reflection submission point.
You will work in your small groups (as allocated in Week 2 of the unit) to prepare a Community Development Strategy.
Based on the case study reports you prepared for Assessment 2, your group will analyse the similarities and differences among the strategies utilised to achieve social change in your Assessment 2 focus community organisations/projects/campaigns.
Your group will collaboratively develop another strategy or practice (not utilised already by the organisations/projects/campaigns) that you think would be useful in achieving social change related to the common social issue/overarching community and suggest how this strategy may be implemented.

Background (why am I doing this?)
Skill in working within diverse groups to achieve common goals is vital for social workers to develop. This assessment enables you to combine the individual learnings and experiences of each group member, and to harness the groups collective knowledge of different community work organisations/projects/campaigns from Assessment 2, to analyse strategies for social change. This assessment also encourages you to generate creative ideas and emerging community work strategies, including digital strategies, and to explore how these may be implemented in practice.
Instructions (what do I have to do?)
Step 1: Communicate as a group to develop your community strategy presentation. Each group member can share their learnings from their Assessment 2 case study report this can be done in creative ways such as discussion, presentation and perhaps sharing mind maps, images, documents or community artefacts with the group.
Your group can then discuss, compare and contrast the different learnings from the range of community work organisations/projects/campaigns group members explored in Assessment 2. Your group should then collaboratively develop another strategy or practice that you think could be useful in achieving social change, that is not already being utilised by the organisations/projects/campaigns and outline some ideas about how this strategy or practice could be effectively implemented.
Please be mindful of the ethical principles of equity and integrity, and the importance of valuing each group member's unique strengths and experiences.
We encourage you to develop visual aids to support the presentation of your community strategy. We encourage you to include references as part of your presentation and in a reference list. Follow the detailed information on instructions and requirements below. Please refer to the marking criteria to ensure you are addressing all aspects of the criteria as outlined.
Step 2: (Optional): You may wish to rehearse/practice your community development strategy presentation. You may wish to record this and watch it back, to help you in making any adjustments before recording what you will submit.
Step 3: Record your community development strategy presentation. Your presentation should be no more than 10 minutes (+ or 30 seconds). The work of determining the key messages of your presentation, its design and the presentation should be distributed more or less equally across the group members. The group can determine the strengths of your members. For example, you may choose to divide the presentation more or less equally with each person doing part of the verbal and visual representation. One group member may do the visual representation, another might do the written representation and another may do the verbal presentation.
You will now work individually on your written reflection component. Please visit thereflection submission pointfor detailed instructions and to submit your individual reflection.
Making your presentation (how do I do this?)
Your group presentation should be structured to include (but is not restricted to):
Introduction
Introduce group members, the broad social issue OR the focus community, and the organisations/projects/campaigns explored by individual group members in Assessment 2
Main body (create sub-sections relevant to your unique group and presentation)
- Articulate why the broad social issue OR focus community is important to explore (who is impacted? What are the impacts? Why is this an area that social work should/does focus on?)
- Discuss theexisting community work and/or advocacy practices strategiesutilised to influence social change by the organisations/projects/campaigns explored by individual group members in their Assessment 2 reports, highlighting the similarities and differences in the advocacy strategies employed
- Discuss the groups ideas aboutat least one additional community work and/or advocacy strategyyou believe may contribute to addressing the social issue and/or key concerns of the focus community, and ideas about how this strategy/practice may be implemented.
Conclusion
Summarise the key points of the presentation.
