Communication with Parent (2) Unit Statement for Report
As a part of their foundational education in Term 1 and 2, Kindergarten students have been learning to communicate effectively by using language familiar with their surroundings. Students have been learning to identify and blend different sounds to create and understand tier 1 and 2 words. In preparation to begin reading decodable texts and writing words, students have been growing their confidence in phonemic awareness through the Sounds-Write and Heggerty programs. Both programs allow students to develop their sound and letter identification skills.

Dear [Students name],
It has been a delight to be your Year 5 teacher for the Term 1 and 2 of 2023. You are a bright and confident girl, and this is displayed through your work in Mathematics and English. You are able to describe and represent mathematical situations in various ways while using terminology we have studied in class (MA3-1WM) as well as using appropriate strategies for addition and subtraction for counting various numbers (MA3-5NA). I have definitely noticed that your confidence in all mathematics tasks is flourishing. In English, you have shown a willingness to learn and a passion for improvement. You are extending yourself in using a range of skills and strategies to read and comprehend different texts (EN3-3A). You also have shown a great effort in writing your exposition. Overall, I commend your excellent work throughout Term 1 and 2 and I am looking forward to seeing you flourish academically through the rest of Year 5.
