Cervical Cancer in Rural India
Cervical cancer is the most common cause of cancer mortality among women in India.
The screening and the reach of awareness of cervical cancer is not full-fledged in India especially in rural population which acts as a major drawback in combating the disease.
Despite the introduction of HPV vaccinations and screening policies, there are barriers in rural India.
Health illiteracy, low socio-economic status, cultural barriers, poor hygiene, lack of access to medical centre contribute to the increase in the disease burden.
Delayed diagnosis of cervical cancer and its further treatment is of a greater cost which adds more burden to the health care financing.
