For the Literature Review, follow the steps below:
For the Literature Review, follow the steps below:
1). Start by formulating a title for your research study.
2). Write down several themes/phrases from the title you have formulated. These themes are the ones you are going to use to look for journals for your research topic.3). Copy the themes/phrases you have written down (one by one) and paste them in Google Scholar to discover the journals which are relevant to your study.4). Start to choose the journals which you think will be suitable for your literature review.
5). You are required to select between 5-6 journals for this Literature Review.
6). Once you have done the above, you should now WRITE ONE RESEARCH TOPIC which will be the one guiding your literature review. The research question comes from the TITLE that was discussed in point number 1.
BELOW IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE TITLE, RESEARCH THEMES AND RESEARCH TOPIC WHICH I USED FOR MY OWN RESEARCH WHICH I AM SHARING AS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT YOU ARE EXPECTED TO DO:
TITLE: Family conflict and conflict resolution among Zimbabwean migrants in Greater Western Sydney (GWS).
THEMES: [Family conflict] [Conflict resolution] [Zimbabwean migrants in Australia] [Zimbabwean migrants in Greater Western Sydney] [Conflicts among migrants in their communities] [How conflict is resolved in migrant communities] [Migrants in GWS].
REMEMBER THE THEMES ARE WHAT YOU USE TO LOOK FOR JOURNALS WHICH YOU WILL HAVE TO DO LITERATURE REVIEW ON
RESEARCH TOPIC: What are the key issues that cause family conflict among Zimbabwean migrants in GWS, and how can these problems be resolved?
LITERATURE REVIEW STRUCTURE
INTRODUCTION: What is the background to the issue that is being studied? What is the research all about? Did anything happen in the community that made you think of carrying out this research or simply why did you decide to do the research study?
DEFINITION: How do the different authors describe the issues which are relevant to your research topic? What different words or terms are used in the journals to describe the important issues of your research?
THEORIES: What theories are revealed by the different authors in their journals? Which journal or journals clearly describe the theories you have studied?
KEY CONCEPTS: What key issues emerged from journals you have reviewed? If you were to organise the issues which were discussed in the journals, which one would you write from first to last?
GAPS IN LITERATURE: Are there any issues which you feel were left out by the authors in their discussions? Which things are these?
CONCLUSION: Was this literature review necessary? After reviewing the journals, what is your current perception of the issue?
CHOICE OF RESEARCH TITLE
A: You can go back to the online lectures of WEEK 1, WEEK 2 & WEEK 3 to choose a research title/topic.
B: You can choose a research title/topic of your own interest which is relevant to early childhood curriculum and pedagogy as was explained in the online lectures and tutorials.
C: You can choose ONE RESEARCH TITLE from the following:
1). Challenges of creating play-based environments in early childhood classrooms.2). Challenges and solutions of creating play-based environments in early childhood classrooms.3).
