Assessment topic:Health issues and culturally safe communication

Assessment task:Making a group video approximately 2 minutes each person total time 8-10 minutes.

Brief:Your team needs to create a video presentation for a $100,000 resource development grant.

Process:

As a group, decide which member will address the dot points below, then research, write a script and present to camera a presentation. You could be talking to the camera or using other visual media, such as pictures with a voice over.

To pitch this is idea you need to make a video describing:

• the health issueand why its important to target it

What is it he health issue? What is the demographic you are wanting to reach? What does the data say about that demographic?

• culturally appropriate resourcesaddressing the health topic

Describe what works/ does not work in a culturally safe context and why.

• your concept for a resourcein the context of delivering culturally safe healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The concept is to be agreed on as a group; allocate tasks to each members strength/s. A group charter/agreement is recommended, this assists with creating a timeline and clearly states when each member must have their part completed.

Plan:

• Choose a health topic and demographic - for example, diabetes in elderly Aboriginal women living in regional Victoria or social and emotional health in young Aboriginal men aged 12-17 in the inner suburbs of Melbourne. As a group discuss and agree.


• Research and identify an already established, Aboriginal-led program. Discuss why these programs have been successful, making comparisons, from what you have learnt in the unit, to 'what does and doesn't work'. A collaborative approach is required.


• Develop the concept for your groups proposed resource/program, and then allocate each members respective roles.

Requirements:

• Video presentation (link only please,do not upload actual video)is to be submitted to dropbox by 1700 last Wednesday of the Block

• Each group must upload one Word document with a cover sheet including; student names and numbers,one script with credits (who did what) and a reference list (as per APA)

Process:

• Please check your work against the rubricbefore submitting.


• Submit a Word document with a cover sheet, link to your video, script and references to Dropbox. One script, with each members contribution, only please-Do not submit individual scripts or contributions to the drop box.


• Video link and documents must be submitted by 1700 last Wednesday of Block.
