Assessment Task 3 - Reflective report

The task

In your future employment many of you will be required to investigate a stakeholder engagement issue (or an opportunity), apply your professional expertise and management skills by way of an analysis of the situation, and then report to your organizations leadership or a client upon the facts you found and what you conclude should be done. This assessment item is the opportunity for you as a professional to both demonstrate your stakeholder thinking management skills and to produce a business standard report. You are to design and articulate a stakeholder engagement approach, a stakeholder management plan which supports that approach, and reflect upon how that approach relates to your personal views and your role as a professional.

You will submit a written, business-style report that articulates the case issues and an approach offered by stakeholder theory, and sets out a plan as to engagement with say 3 or 4 key stakeholders. In addition, your report will reflect upon how the case study stakeholder approach you observe in the case and recommend for future actions for the case organization relates to your personal and professional values and capabilities.

YOU CHOOSE THE CASE STUDY ORGANIZATION, IDEALLY FOR THE PURPOSES OF COMPLETING ASSIGNMENT TASK 1, THE SHORT REPORT

The paper is to be written in a business/professional format. This is because in your current or future employment many of you will be required to investigate a problem (or an opportunity), apply your professional expertise and management skills by way of an analysis of the situation, and then report to your organizations leadership or a client upon the facts you found and what you conclude should be done. In addition to such typical business requirements we have required that you reflect upon your own, personal learnings. The paper may be structured in whichever way you want but must meet professional, business standards which of course means clear communication with the reader (the marker). As this Unit may be the first study and writing that you have done for some time we haveprovided a specific templatelater in this Guide. Make sure you understand the Markers requirements as to structure, logical flow, grammar and other matters of detail, and referencing. These are set out in the Marking Rubric below.

• Your learnings from participating in the Forum discussions


• Your learnings from the group interactions in the Forum discussion threads such as the benefits and limitations of their approach


• The stakeholder thinking literature


• Government publications and the media.
