Instructions
Continuing to augment to the walls sections, add water resistive barrier, cavity insulation, continuous insulation, interior gypsum and faade material (selected in Module 01). Call out components and materials, dimensions, and any other necessary annotations.
Add a new Conceptual Wall Section called the onion. Starting with a grayed-out copy of your current 2-D wall section, draw over it using colored lines to trace the major conceptual components.
Green Line - Framing and minor structural elements
Red Line - Continuous Insulation
Blue Line - Water Resistive Barrier/Flashing
Orange Line - Finishes (exterior faade and interior gypsum wall board)
The objective is for lines to stay continuous and not cross. Any area where lines break or cross is considered faulty and will required additional research and understanding. See example posted below.
Update the outline specifications listing any new components and materials. including manufacturer, model, size, color and or other relevant information.
Purpose
The objective is to understand how the different components are properly installed and layered for an effective building envelope. The different systems should control water infiltration, minimize heat flow, mitigate thermal bridging. and accommodate movement in the assembly.
Tools
The tools necessary to complete this assignment may include:
-Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop or equivalent.
-Computer drafting (CAD) software.
-SketchUp modeling software or equivalent.

Due Date
Submit work on your project by the end of the module. All information should be submitted as .pdf documents with the naming convention outlined below.
Submission Directions
Submit work by the end of the module. All information should be submitted as a single pdf file, 36" x 24" (landscape orientation), with an appropriate title block and named per the standard naming convention (M5 Last Name.pdf). Please limit the file size while maintaining image quality.

Draw a two-story wall section of wood framed structure based on the following description.
Foundation: 2'-0" deep x 1'-4" wide concrete grade beam.
Slab: 5" thick concrete slab at first floor.
Walls: 2x6 wood studs @ 16" O.C., platform framed, with 1/2" plywood sheathing.
Roof: sloped roof, 8:12 pitch, with 5/8" plywood sheathing.
Floor to floor height: 10'-0".
Second Floor: 2x10 floor joists @ 16" O.C. with 1-1/8" thick plywood subfloor.
Ceiling Joists: 2x8 wood framing @ 24" O.C.
Rafters: 2x8 wood framing @ 24" O.C.
Rough Door opening: 7'-0" high nominal framed opening (1st floor).
Rough Window opening: 4'-0" tall (2nd floor) @ 3'-0" off subfloor.
The wall section should include materials and members drawn to scale, with correct architectural hatches, shading, etc. Wall section should only include the wood structure and sheathing; no cladding materials. Wall section should include representative connection details and/or annotations of the connection. Drawing should be annotated and dimensioned.
