In this assessment you will prepare and present a recorded oral presentation in which you will select one therapy model covered in the subject from the following list and discuss its use in the contemporary mental health setting.

You can choose from:

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

Family therapy

Narrative therapy

The assessment task requires you submit a 10-minute video which includes the usual +/- 10% in the assessment task length giving you a 9-11 minute window for the length of your video. It is particularlyimportant to notethat the markers will not watch past the 11:00 minute mark so your entire presentation (including your reference list) needs to be included before you get to this point:anything after this will not be included in the marking of your presentation.

Assessment criteria

This assessment will measure your ability to demonstrate:

Introduce your chosen therapy model and present the scope and aims of your presentation (3 marks)

Present a detailed overview of the chosen therapy model (6 marks)

Identify and explore in detail three specific strategies/interventions utilised when practicing using this therapy model with an emphasis on how each strategy/intervention acts to bring about positive change for the consumer (6 marks)

Provide three specific examples of how the strategies/interventions discussed in the previous section (provide one example per strategy/intervention) could be utilised in clinical practice. This will involve describing a consumer and discussing the use of the strategy/intervention with an emphasis on how it will help the consumer described (6 marks)

Conclude your presentation (3 marks)

Present yourself professionally (3 marks)

Use appropriate written communication and referencing (3 marks)

Presentation format

The following provides a suggested structure for your PowerPoint presentation structure:

A title slide: this should include your presentation title, name and student number and should be showing at the very beginning of the video (1 slide).

Introduction: introduce yourself and your chosen therapy model, and present the scope and aims of your presentation (1 slide).

Present a detailedoverview of the chosen therapy model(2-3 slides).

Identify and explore in detail three specific strategies/interventionsutilised when practicing using this therapy model with an emphasis onhow each strategy/intervention acts to bring about positive changefor the consumer (1-2 slides per strategy).

Provide three specific examples ofhow the strategies/interventionsdiscussed in the previous section (provide one example per strategy/intervention) could beutilised in clinical practice(1 slide per example).

Conclusion(1 slide).

Reference listin APA7 format (2-3 slides). Note: please make sure that you (1) spend at least 5 seconds showing each slide in the video to give the markers adequate time to review your reference list, and (2) include this within the 11-minute maximum time period.

Please remember this needs to be prepared and presented to an academic standard befitting the expectations of our profession. This means you must include (1) in-text citations on the slides wherever you are using the work of another (just as you would when writing an assignment), and (2) a full reference list in APA7 format that includes of the sources you cited during the actual presentation.

Note: You do not need to read out aloud the full details of each of your citations when delivering your presentation; having them visible in the text on the slide will suffice.
