Instructions

In this assignment, the mini unit of work you are designing focuses on two phases of the teaching and learning cycle: text deconstruction and joint construction. There are four lessons you need to plan for Stage 3 students. The first three lessons demonstrate how you go about teaching text deconstruction and the fourth lesson features how joint construction is implemented. You can refer to the exemplar but bear in mind that the exemplar was created using past semesters planning templates and assignment requirements and they are not completely the same as Spring 2023 TEAC 7090 Assignment 2.

A mentor text should be used in the first three lessons on text deconstruction as a model text. The vUWS site has a few suggested texts (see the Text selection folder) which you can use either as the mentor text and/or a teaching resource in your mini unit of work. You can also modify any of these texts. Alternatively, source your own mentor text which you may feel is a better fit for your intended lesson, however, no extra marks are given for this.

You need to assume that negotiating and building the field knowledge have taken place prior to each lesson. The mentor text has already been used to teach Science and Technology prior to the first lesson in this unit of work. Students should understand the content related to the mentor text before engaging in this unit of work. Your mini unit of work thus focuses on language and literacy aspects when the mentor text is used to address your selected Science and Technology outcome (refer to the most current syllabus for this key learning area).

Please remove all the words in blue before you submit your assignment. Please use the black font (not italics). Remove the page break at the bottom of this page when you remove the blue text.

You are required to use the new online English syllabus, available at: https://curriculum.nsw.edu.au/learning-areas/english/english-k-10-2022
