Instructions
Everest Distribution is a website-based business that sells and ships various types of products to three different segments of customers – consumer, corporate and home office. It has complied a dataset based on the internal data it has. The dataset contains informa!on on transaction number, shipmode (what form of delivery the customer requested), quantity ordered, unit price (price in $ for each unit of the item ordered), profit per order (in $, nega!ve value indicates loss on that order), segment (which customer segment), sub-category, category, orderdate_year, shipdate_year and preparation #me (hours required to prepare the order). The informa!on is available in the dataset !tled “EverestDistribu#on”. The dataset is in Excel format.
The manager of Everest Distribu!on wants you to present a storyboard in Tableau based on analysis undertaken of the dataset. You are required to prepare a Tableau storyboard video presenta!on (recorded in Panopto and the video needs to be submitted along with the Tableau packaged workbook in .twbx format). You should describe what the storyboard shows (imagine you are presen!ng this to the management of Everest Distribution). It is important to have face-to-camera when presen!ng the storyboard. The submission of the Tableau packaged workbook in .twbx format will serve as the submission of the technical file.
Some of the business ques!ons and visualisa!on that you can explore for this task are given below.
Note that some of these are NOT business questions.
- Which customer segments, mode of delivery and product categories are profifitable and not profitable?
- What are the top product categories in terms of profit?
- Is there a relationship between mode of delivery and preparation !me?
- Develop additional business ques!ons (at least 3 to 4) based on your understanding of the dataset. Consider what addi!onal insights the manager may wish to know. Prepare visualisa!ons to answer these business ques!ons.
- Create at least two (2) dashboards based on the analysis above. Each dashboard should have at least four (4) visuals. This will ensure a nice and balanced dashboard presenta!on.
- Create one (1) storyboard based on the two dashboards created above. Remember you will need to present this storyboard to the management of the company.
- Review the tutorial exercises and videos for week 9 for this assignment.
