- Yanik is a musician in the state orchestra. He grew up in a very strict family where he was told that he was not good enough, and where he was continually anxious trying to meet his parents’ high standards. He did not form friendships easily at school, as other students, particularly male students, sneered at his musical talent
- As a young adult, Yanik separated from his parents and limited his contact mostly to family Even though he feels quite happy with what he has achieved, he sometimes struggles to make ends meet and he still feels disappointed with his parents.
- His parents emailed that they are going to come to his next performance in a week’s time. They have never come to a performance before. All of the thoughts and feelings Yanik had while living at home have come back and he feels almost paralysed, so much so, that he is finding it hard to concentrate and eat, and is constantly pre-occupied with the thoughts of playing badly and being a The worst time is night-time, when he wakes up in a sweat and then finds it hard to breathe.
