Senior Project Engineer, Tunnel Fitout
The role of Senior Project Engineer will be embedded into the Linewide and Operations Delivery Team and is responsible for scope related to the rail/track/signalling tunnel fitout, working collaboratively with engineering and delivery teams from both SRLA and our Delivery Partners throughout development and delivery of the SRL project.
The role will call on relevant project development, delivery, and technical experience, with a demonstrated ability to undertake constructability reviews, define interfaces, value engineering and optioneering throughout the lifecycle of complex underground rail projects. The ability to maintain strong relationships across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, supporting with a wide range of project implications of complex technical issues, is fundamental for the success of the role.

Usual Work Location: Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) supports flexible working and enables team members to split their time working in the Melbourne CBD office and remotely, and at project sites as required. The successful candidate must reside in Victoria and have the ability to commute to the usual work location as required.

Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated transport infrastructure and precincts planning project that will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, as well as investment in the suburbs, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is the statutory body established to plan all elements of the project, procure builders, develop structure planning for SRL Precincts and oversee construction and the other changes that will help transform Melbourne and Victoria.

About the team
Rail & Infrastructure Delivery
The Rail and Infrastructure Delivery Division is responsible for developing and delivering the SRL East rail infrastructure, including 26km twin tunnels and six new underground stations. This will be delivered through the program of Initial and Early works underway since mid-2022, followed by a Main Works program that will deliver the tunnels, tracks, stations and line-wide infrastructure such as signalling, rolling stock, stabling, maintenance and operational systems. The division manages all aspects of development and delivery, including design, construction, commission and operations, and health and safety.
About the role - key accountabilities
Provide technical support and coordination assistance for the development, planning & procurement and delivery phases of the Suburban Rail Loop Project.
Assist in coordinating and overseeing the delivery of the SRL project's site works for the Tunnel Fitout Works and contribute to effective monitoring and reporting of project status and risks.
Management of day to day process matters relevant to projects, including data collection and governance, in accordance with applicable quality assurance plans and policies.
Provide technical advice to assist in making informed decisions to ensure SRLAs quality assurance and performance requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle, drawing on internal subject matter expertise as required, and/or effectively and promptly escalating decisions through the governance framework.
Work effectively with cross functional teams consisting of engineering, design, stakeholder and community relations, land planning & environment and other disciplines.
Ensure that safety is a primary consideration in all aspects of the project and ensure that sector-best practice processes and procedures are implemented in the delivery of works.
About you - key selection criteria
Demonstrated experience managing budget and programs on major infrastructure projects.
Demonstrated experience in scope and interface management on major infrastructure projects.
Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate and negotiate with stakeholders, including project team members, contractors, consultants and multiple government and statutory bodies to ensure work is prioritised and delivered in accordance with the designated scope, project timeframes, government and community requirements.
Experience in construction management on rail/track/signalling on major infrastructure projects will be highly valued.
Highly developed oral and written communication skills, incluiding an ability to communicate complex issues to a wide variety of internal and external project stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor (or higher) qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering is mandatory.
Minimum 6 years experience working in construction on major infrastructure projects (rail and/or tunnel fitout)
Valid Victorian drivers license to be able to travel to key project sites if required.
