This module has TWO assessed elements:

TWO Course Works as in Group Assignments, in which each one contributes 50% worth of marks to the overall Module grading.

Research scope:

The global recession has hit hard in many areas and all major functions of organizations have been impacted. The importance of developing and managing innovative strategies in the field of procurement is clear. From a historical perspective, procurement has undergone huge transitions, especially in the last decades, in the sense that organizations have had to deal with pressures relating to cutting costs and increasing profits. It is essential to innovate through process improvement and automation management. To analyse how this can be done, a possible entry point is to scrutinize the implementation of innovations.

The future of procurement is extremely interesting, and Industry 4.0 is at the basis of the fourth industrial revolution, thus It is indeed a revolution also for procurement. While digitisation is a key driver of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0); organisations have different approaches to dealing with this topic to get a clearer picture of the opportunities and challenges concerning digital transformation. Procurement 4.0 can be seen as a component of the initiative of industry 4.0. So, its very significant to identify the impact of digitisation on procurement and its role within the area of supply chain management.

Assignment task:

You must form your Group of five (5) members on your own to produce a Research Report which covers the above research scope.

You must critically evaluate on following points and pave a solid foundation in terms of building blocks for digitalizing the procurement function in supply chain management.

What is the impact of digitisation on organisational performance in the field of procurement (i.e., sourcing strategies and buyer-supplier relationships)

What are the key barriers in digitising organisations procurement function and how to overcome them

Which technologies are required to leverage the potential of digitisation with a focus on procurement procedures and processes (i.e., mobile solutions, cloud, enterprise resource planning (ERP), etc.)

How digitalization can improve and Fastrack the negotiation, sourcing, and procurement risk management over possible disruptions, enhance buyer-supplier collaboration, finalizing, monitoring and evaluation of Contracts which ultimately leads to reaping the full potential in terms of appropriate contract management.

Design and develop a Novel Framework which can be used as a Robust Guide for those who are willing to digitalise their Procurement function in Supply chain management (i.e., A Process Flow Diagram / PFD which may produce by using MS Visio / Business Process Modelling Notation /BPMN).

Group Formation:

Its not allowed to enrol yourself into any Group without the consent of the rest of the 4 members.

As advised at the very beginning of the Module delivery by the Module Leader, you must form your group of five members early as possible and reflect the same by enrolling yourself into that particular Group (Task 002 Group ...) in the Group tab on the Blackboard Module site.

This should be the same formation of Group that you had for Task 001, but you altogether need to enrol yourself again into a particular Group (i.e., Task 002 Group 01).

Once you formed the Group with the consent of all five members, the formation cannot be changed.

Your Module Tutors have no authorisation nor responsibility over adding or removing members to/from any Group.

Deliverables: Report 2,500 words (+/-10%)

This report should demonstrate your competence in the application of theory and what you learnt in a real-time context by using a hypothetical business model at your disposal. This must be read as it has been written by a single team. Make sure that you don't duplicate information or contradict yourself but keep to a similar style throughout.

You can include Figures, Tables which you may generate or extract from the module documents and any other related theory you think may support your findings, arguments, proposing solutions and conclusions. As such, there is a research element embedded in this assignment, and you must refer to theories covered in the module together with other applicable research which will certainly add value to the overall quality of your work

Referencing

The final report must be appropriately referenced as per APA 7th standard.

Your attention should be drawn to the university regulations specially to avoid Academic Misconduct (i.e., Plagiarism, Collusion, etc.).

If you fail to adhere to such will lead to face an Academic Misconduct Meeting/Panel based on the case, you are alleged with.

Submission

The final Report should be submitted by only one member into both (1) Blackboard and (2) Turnitin Submission Points on or before the due date and time.

Procedure for Non-contributing members (Optional and only applicable if you have any issues)

All members of the group are expected to contribute equally to the task of analysing research and preparing the report. You must work together on all aspects of the task.

Whilst group meetings are encouraged to discuss and exchange ideas, it is strongly advised that you also use the group discussion boards, Google docs or similar online portal systems to work on this task. This will assist with construction, compilation and thus contribution and will improve access and communication between group members.

If there are difficulties within your group in the case of non-contributing members, you are advised to escalate the same to your tutor ASAP which will take you to follow the additional steps stated below.

In this case, if the problem is not being solved, your tutor will ask you to fill out the form called Peer and self-assessment of contribution to group task which you can find in the assessment tab.

All group members MUST Individually fill out and submit the form as per the given assessment deadline into the Peer and self-assessment-submission point which is in the assessment tab

The tutor will use these forms as a guide to calculate and award marks as per the individuals contribution.

Please note, if any member missed submitting the Peer and self-assessment form, your mark would be awarded based on the other how other group members stated your contribution, and you will not have any right to objection.

Assessment Criteria and Feedback

Students are encouraged to explore the subject, consider approaches, and address possibilities which may not have been considered or addressed completely in the lecture, seminar and tutorial sessions. Explicitly this assignment intends to encourage the students to engage in the theory and practice and consider how these theories could be appropriately applied in a real-time context.

T03 Procurement Processes, Models, and application of New Technology

With the increase in use of alternative procurement methods, several researchers have developed decision-making conversations in order to investigate the criteria for their selection and their rate of success in terms of Time, Cost and Quality (TCQ).

All these models have attempted to provide a mechanism that allows procurement systems to be assessed against a set of possible clients requirements, by rating how well the procurement system can satisfy those needs.

There is no one best procurement method/model for all projects. The selection depends on the nature of the issues or problem at hand. Decision making is not a punctual act. It is often a complex process. Effective decision making also demands quality and timely information, and a careful consideration of alternatives.

The literature whatever you refer provides specific research in that recognized field. For an instance current trend in procurement Processes and the Methods. Then that provide leads which are intended to offer decision makers an opportunity to broaden their horizon on the different alternatives procurement routs that could lead to different consequences.

During this weeks activity, it will help you to achieve the Learning Objectives by critically evaluating the Literature in 4 key aspects as given below. Please refer the Four peered reviewed articles which have been provided below and attend with the Task(s) as described.
