Task
You will evaluate a public institution in your local area to assess its adherence to traumainformed care (TIC) standards, specifically in the context of family and domestic violence, sexual assault, and associated trauma. Task Details:
- Choose a public institution in your local area (e.g., hospital, Centrelink, community health center, ACCHO, GP practice).
- Familiarise yourself with the institutions mission, services, and patient demographics, with a focus on services related to family and domestic violence, sexual assault and/or associated trauma, demonstrating understanding of the issues.
- Develop a set of criteria based on TIC standards (examples discussed in the modules) to guide your evaluation.
- Conduct a visit to the publicly accessible areas of the institutions and observe the environment and interactions, focusing on areas where survivors may receive care.
- Review relevant publicly available documents, such as policies, procedures, training materials, and support resources for survivors. If you cannot find any, try contacting the organisation and ask for their TIC standards.
- Analyse your collected data to identify strengths and areas for improvement in the institutions adherence to TIC standards related to family and domestic violence, sexual assault and trauma.
- Compare your findings with the established criteria.
- Write a comprehensive report detailing your findings. Include the following sections:
- Introduction: Brief overview of the institution and purpose of evaluation (150 words)
- Methodology: Brief description of the process you undertook, including data collection methods. (350 words)
- Findings: Detailed analysis of the institutions adherence to TIC standards in the context of family and domestic violence, sexual assault and trauma. (1000 words)
- Recommendations and conclusion: Suggestions for improving TIC practices in the institution. (500 words)
