Summary of recommended poster sections
Summary of recommended poster sections
Sectioning your poster according to the recommendations below will ensure all the key assessment criteria are included. Instructions for how to compete a literature matrix are on page 2.
1. Introduction
Ensure you clearly and succinctly introduce your topic. This includes stating what the clinical issue is and why it is important to investigate it. Ensure you reference this section. When using Vancouver style referencing, the first references in your list will appear in this section.
2. Clinical Question
Outline your clinical question, which you will develop using the PICO of PICo search building strategy (Week 0-1)
3. Search and Critical appraisal
You need to summarise all relevant details of your search strategy here (see Databases and Searching). Remember to consider the databases used, date range, language and initial search terms, as well as the study designs sought. Ensure you detail the critical appraisal tools used and reference them (see Canvas week 4)
4. Summary of evidence
You need to briefly summarise the results of the search, including the numbers of papers found, the level of evidence of your five chosen papers and how your recommendations were developed. You should be referencing all your chosen papers in this section.
5. Recommendation(s)
In the recommendations section you must succinctly state the key recommendations that you have developed based on the evidence provided within your five selected papers. Remember to reference the papers that correspond to the recommendations.
6. Implementation
The implementation section is where you identify key barriers that may influence uptake of your recommendations into practice, as well as strategies that may be useful in overcoming each barrier. The recommendation, barriers and strategies should be based on what is written in your five selected papers (with references). (Weeks 8-9).
7. Limitations
Here you explain the limitations to the evidence you have found on your topic. This might include the strength of the current evidence base, overall limitations to the included studies, knowledge gaps that remain what you include here will depend on your assessment of the evidence. You will needto draw upon your critical appraisal skills (week 4).
8. Bottom line statement
Concisely state the overall statement that sums up the answer to your clinical question.
9. Include your name and student number on your poster.
Referencing:
Ensure you use Vancouver referencing conventions for your poster (see QUT CiteWrite for details). This numbered style is useful for presenting posters when space islimited and is commonly used in health disciplines. The reference list looks different to APA style. Check QUT Cite|Write for details.
Literature Matrix
The literature matrix presents key elements of your five chosen papers. Complete the literature matrix prior to writing the content of your poster as it will give you the information you need for each section. Below is a template for the matrix that covers the information you must extract and briefly summarise from each paper.
