Purpose


The purpose of this assessment is to conduct an environmental scan to identify, analyse and communicate a trend or issue of relevance to Human Resource Development (HRD).


Task details


Select two recent, relevant, related articles from the HRD literature. One of the articles should be from an academic journal. By recent, consider articles published from 2010 to the current day. This is also applicable for other journal papers that you will use in your assessment.


Read and analyse the articles and write a report that addresses the following:



  • Explain the issue or trend addressed in the articles by briefly analysing the key information presented in each article.

  • Explain why you believe the issue/trend is significant to the practice of HRD, and describe what impact you think it will have on the practice of HRD in organisations.

  • Make two recommendations for action you believe a HRD manager/professional should follow to deal with the issue or trend. Explain and support your recommendations.

Your paper should have the following sections (this is just a guideline):



  • An introduction

  • A section on the analysis of the issue/trend discovered in the articles

  • A section on the significance of the issue/trend to the domain of HRD and discuss the impact on practice of HRD in organisations

  • A section on two recommendations for action to overcome the issue/trend with evidence and examples to support your recommendations

  • A conclusion

  • A reference list.


You must consult and reference a minimum of four (4) academic resources (i.e. journal articles, books, book chapters etc) to support your analysis. You need to use APA7 referencing.


The total length of the assessment is a maximum of 1,000 words (+/- 10%) (Reference list and title page are excluded from the word count).

ssessment Task 2: Individual Human Resource Development Training Plan


Purpose


The purpose of this assessment is for you to plan, design and evaluate a training program.


Task details


You are a Learning and Development Consultant, and you have been engaged by A & J university. The university currently has three regional campuses in Victoria, Australia. The CEO, Ali Jas, has asked you to develop a training plan which can be administered across all the regional campuses, and also in its Melbourne campus.


Your task is to develop a detailed proposal for the training plan, based on one of the topics below:



  • Leadership development program (a training program for professional staff members)

  • A performance management toolkit for giving and receiving better feedback (a training program for senior academic managers)

  • Managing health and wellbeing (a training program for academics and/or professional staff members)

  • Creating a safer and more inclusive workplace for employees with disabilities (a training program for academics)

  • Supporting women in leadership role (a training plan for women academics identified as potential leader)

  • Mentoring culturally and linguistically diverse academics (a mentoring program for international/migrant academics).


Instructions


The training plan should include the following:



  1. A title and overall description of the plan.

  2. One training objective.

  3. The training methods to be used and the rationale for using these methods (including a discussion of the principles using academic articles on which the selection of training methods is based).

  4. A tentative lesson plan for the delivery of your training session (attach as an appendix: not included in the word count).

  5. A list, brief description and justifications of training materials you will use to deliver your training. Please provide justifications/rationales with examples for each training materials that you have chosen using academic articles.

  6. A program evaluation plan. Evaluation should be done at both the reaction and learning levels. Please provide evaluation questions you will ask at thereaction and learning levels. What evaluation tools/methods you will use forreaction and learning levels.

The purpose of this assessment is to conduct a self-case analysis on your career development plan.

In this current age, you are required to actively manage your own career path. This assessment will prompt you to think deeply and reflect on the jobs, career or industry that you really want to work in. Your task is to address the following questions in an essay/report format:

  1. How am I going to get there?


In this section you need to outline three (3) strategies (plan of actions) that are able to assist you to obtain your career goals and also to overcome your gap identified in Section 2. This may be very specific if you are already very clear on your career goals and it can be very general if you are unclear of your career goals as yet. In either case, the idea is to discuss ways of pursuing a career that is most consistent with your lifestyle goals and values.
