Purpose

This task will assess your skills and knowledge in explaining entrepreneurial qualities and the analysis of a business venture.

Task details

For this assessment, you will submit a 1,000-word report as a Microsoft Word document, critically analysing a current entrepreneur, their entrepreneurial journey and proposed suggestions for future directions.

Instructions

Choose ONE entrepreneur from the following national finalists of EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 National Finalists:https://www.ey.com/en_au/entrepreneur-of-the-year/australia/meet-the-2025-finalists

Write a report that includes critical analysis and application of relevant entrepreneurship theories/frameworks/concepts/approaches, not just a simple presentation of the entrepreneur's biography.

You can use the following suggested structure to format your report,noting that only sections 25 will contribute to the word count:


1. Cover page


Include your full name, student ID, campus, class day and time and tutor's name.


2. Introduction


Brieflyintroduce your report, identifying the entrepreneur you have chosen.


3.Background


Discuss the background of your chosen entrepreneur, including development, family and sociocultural background and other relevant information. Outline how this background might have influenced entrepreneurial propensity and contributed to their success. Don't forget to align this information with relevant entrepreneurship theories/process/frameworks/approaches.


4.Entrepreneurial traits and characteristics


Discuss the characteristics or traits of your chosen entrepreneur with reference to relevant entrepreneurship theories/frameworks/approaches.


5. Recommendations


Suggest future directions for your chosen entrepreneur, including different types of businesses or avenues, such as franchising, mergers or expanding or selling their business. Justify your suggestions.


6. References


You should use a minimum of 10 references, including at least four (4) academic sources. Provide a reference list with full citations usingAPA7 format. All references must be in English.

Write a report that includes critical analyses your chosen start-up venture, applying your knowledge of the relevant entrepreneurship frameworks/processes/concepts/theories. Your report must be submitted using 12-point Times New Roman font with 1.5 line spacing.

You can use the following suggested structure to format your report,noting that only sections 26 will contribute to the word count:

Provide suggestions for future development or ideas to take the start-up to the 'next level'.

Purpose

The purpose of this task is to assess your skills in applying your knowledge of entrepreneurship to develop and communicate an entrepreneurial idea or solution to a relevant audience.

Task details

For this task, you will prepare and submit a 2,200-word business model development report (as aMicrosoft Worddocument) for a new, for-profit entrepreneurial venture that you might set up yourself in the near future.

Instructions

Perform relevant research and analyses, then critically describe and discuss theBusiness Model Development Report (and its components) for abrand-new, for-profit entrepreneurial venturethat you might set up yourself in the near future. You mustnotselect an existing start-up to analyse.

Thelocationof your proposed entrepreneurial venture must be as follows:



  • For students from Melbourne (Bundoora), Sydney campuses, the proposed venture must be based in Australia.

  • For students from Hanoi (HANU/NEU) campuses, the proposed venture must be based in Vietnam.



Craft your report applying your knowledge of the relevant entrepreneurship concepts/frameworks/processes/theories and self-reflection. Your report must be submitted using 12-point Times New Roman font with 1.5 line spacing.

  • Introduce your proposed for-profit entrepreneurial venture.

  • Explain your idea clearly so that first-time readers will understand your proposal.

  • Cover important information such as product features, benefits or experiences and identify who and where the target customers are and what customer need, want or problem the venture is trying to address.


Self-reflection



  • Reflect on your process of idea generation and screening.

  • Comment on how you came up with the idea, what techniques and methods were used and any prototype/MVP developed.



5. Innovation and differentiation


Explain how your proposed business idea is innovative and identify what might differentiate your venture from the current oppositions or competitive offerings in the market.


6. Industry and competitive analysis


Provide an analysis of the industry and competition. Support your analysis and arguments with relevant secondary data and apply relevant frameworks/processes/models where possible.


7.Business idea evaluation


Use theDesign methodology frameworkcovered in Kuratko (2019, p. 140), or Kuratko (2024, p. 135) to outline the following for your venture:



  • Proof of concept desirability: Is your venture desirable to customers?

  • Proof of concept feasibility: Is your venture producible and functionally viable?

  • Proof of concept viability: Is there sizable market or demand to produce viable financial outcomes?



8.Business Model Canvas


Include a completed Business Model Canvas for your proposed venture at the beginning of this section, then expand on the key elements of your Business Model Canvas using the suggested sub-headings (supporting your analyses and arguments with relevant secondary data and apply relevant entrepreneurial concepts/frameworks/theories where possible).
